To the East-coasters that transferred to an EU server...

how is it there? How's your ping, is there serious lag? Are differences in language an issue? Are the people there different than the people on the NA servers? I'm kind of thinking about transferring myself, but I don't know if it'll be a benefit for me.

I can't answer as an east coaster but we have a few Americans in our FC as we all played 11 together. They don't seem to suffer and as a group we managed to clear a fair bit of Alex and ex primals when we were active without any of them complaining that lag was making it tough. Its quite nice having both their prime time and the EUs covered by active players. We have played together since launch as well so they have transferred from just a named EU server into an actual EU server and it hasn't caused any major issues. Would maybe help if you could find a group with existing Americans or EU players with a similar playtime slot as you. Language isn't really an issue Italian, French, Spanish, German and English get on pretty well. It's been very rare I have run into any issue with language barriers here.

People are people, some are nice, some are not nice, most fall somewhere in the middle regardless of NA or EU. Haven't had any language barrier issues so far (transferred about a week ago). Ping for me is 150 compared to 130 since they moved the servers to California so not too much of a difference. I don't notice any lag, not getting hit by AoEs that I am out of on my screen or anything like that.

I'm not sure how things are meant to be going at the moment for transfers to EU servers, specifically Omega, but I'd possibly recommend holding off on it until you're committed to doing so over a long period of time.

I transferred an alt to Omega from a congested world with the free transfer and I have been unable to play any character on any data center for over 2 hours at this point. Trying to log into any Data Center results in a "Your character data is currently being transferred" error, and about half of my characters in my character list on the Mogstation are missing entirely.

I can only assume they're hung up in queue hell like the people trying to log into the server as well. So, if you're going to transfer, then do it before you go to bed or something.
