No it wont get nerfed. Final steps of faith wasn't nerfed either. People just get better gear and becuase of that it becomes easier on its own.It will get nerfed and there is nothing wrong with that. You'll get your EX version.
Also clearly the fight is seen as a challenge as so many people are having issues with it, but I've beaten this to death in another thread. The "it's a final boss" excuse needs to stop. It's MSQ aka casual content.
The Final Steps of Faith is vastly different from it's ARR counterpart. FSoF was just a beatdown on the boss, while SoF was beating the boss before it was moving in at the last gate while utilizing cannons, snares, dragonkillers and managing constant adds.
And that was the problem for most pugs until SoF got 'balanced'.

Actually pretty certain it did, but nothing major. I think the final instance just needs two real big changes:
The ATE event is perfectly fine if you know it's coming, but a lot of people usually struggle the first time. I think they just need to bump the time up by like a second or so. It's pretty tight right now. Second issue which is tied to it is that when you fall down and the big AoE that comes out, you can't see the edges of the arena easily and may not immediately know there are safe places to run to. There are a few other things too that aren't immediate to someone running it the first time (The tidal wave in the beginning is just funny though tbh).
Outside of the instance, you literally cannot get better gear (unless you run the final dungeon many times) because they're locked behind this one so a lot of people feel forced to run this until completion.

antiquated gear from level 70 job quest is the best gear right now that you can take into the fight. Whatever gear the "new content" from 4.1 will bring may be an accessible improvement.
Edit: dungeon gear is better than antiquated gear, I stand corrected.

That's not entirely correct - the best gear is the i300 gear from the final dungeon.
That aside, it is likely that you as new player cannot actually get "any" better gear than that to the fight, only players who beat it will be able, because the tome vendors are locked behind it, as are the new dungeons and, most likely, any "new content" they put up will be as well, whatever it might be. The only likely option is going to be crafted gear, if the trend of HW continues.

My apologies for getting the detail of the dungeon gear incorrect, I will amend my post.
However, you are wrong about the HW trend. While diadem required players to complete HW, PotD did not, and the likelihood of the new PotD requiring the completion of the royal menagerie is also unlikely. At the very least players will be able to get a 4.0 PotD weapon before needing to beat this fight, and I can see other content dropping that kind of gating due to PotDs success and diadems failure.
