Crazy Theory FFVI is the prequel to FFXIV

This thread is just for fun, feel free to offer evidence to support or deny this outlandish claim.

I feel like the allagan's may be the empire from ffvi and kefkas world of ruin created when he moved the warring triad was the calamity of that age.

Just a fun thought honestly.

Nice theory, but it has already been shot down ages ago by the development team - Hydaelyn is it's own world which references all FF games, including FFVI, but it's not one particular FF world in the 'past' (their reference was more specifically Hydaelyn being Ivalice or Vana'diel, but they were also referring to all FF worlds in a general sense):

And given magitek repeatedly shows up throughout the FF series, not to mention 'Evil Empires' being a common trope in the series, I'm afraid FFVI's world is not Hydaelyn. Hydaelyn is Hydaelyn, it's own unique world.

If anything is the sequel it would be FFVI, becuase after kefka was defeated magic went away. We wouldn't have magic in FFXIV if it was a sequel.

Well ffxiv is more like a spill over zone things just kinda happen show up there lol I meen lightning just shoes up through a portal same with the samurai chick from 11 that's still just exploring eorzia lol and we haven't seen anything about her since she's like I'm a go on an adventure so think of ffxiv as a between zone a world between world's if you will

The running theory that I have seen is that the void that connects all final fantasy worlds (see FFV, FFVIII and Dissidia) converges at a single point, which is Hydaelyn.

At first, I thought the Warriors of Darkness were the unnamed heroes from FF I.

There's tons of references to other FF games in XIV... Too many to say it's a sequel or prequel to anything...
While the Garlean Empire is an obvious nod to 6, and I suppose Doma in a way also is...
We've got the Scions who partially at least were a reference 2, what with Wild Rose and what not.

And the Allagan Empire is a mashup of things, like the Cyrcus Tower and it's surroundings being the last dungeons from 3... Still waiting for the Forbidden land of Eureka, do it Square dammit.
But the Allagan Empire also made Ultima Weapon from 7 and Omega Weapon from 5... And managed to capture the Warring Triad from 6...

And so forth...
