Probably, yeah, but its overkill unless you are doing world prog imo. If you've got that money to burn though by all means knock yourself out. MC/Casuals pulling their hair out trying to emulate what week 1 clear groups were doing almost a month later is not something I tend to recommend though.

If you want to do the highest damage possible. Yes you need to overmeld crafted accessories. I've seen people say the 340 fending neck is better than overmeld crafted neck.

Which fending neck? I got the genii drop other day and was happy, but unsure if the allagan tenacity would eclipse the nice det and crit combo

It may very well be the better choice that is unless you are a warrior. With the full crafted at bis the only thing you need to hit the next ss tier is 9 skill speed so as long as you melded one ss 5 in an accessories, as a warrior the full crafted will be your bis regardless.
