2. Getting in to play the game
3. Seeing/hearing people who are using this bug, or loop-hole.
4. Finish playing and logging off.
5. Repeat.
I understand this might not really be a "bug", but I am not too sure where else to post this to shine more light on the situation. The format above doesn't really help explain it that well so I hope I can here.
Now let me just start by saying that I understand completely that I am on a heavily populated server and queue times being long is unavoidable. Honestly, I am fine with this. I have made peace with it when I picked Balmung to play on. This is not a statement on the queue times themselves.
What is happening is that players are finding ways around the AFK (away from keyboard) disconnect from happening to them when they go to work, bed, or just leave in general. So prolonged periods of time like 2-8 hours of being AFK. There are different ways to avoid this disconnect, or kick.
1. Talk to a NPC (Non Player Character) and leaving the dialog box up before leaving. This fools the system into thinking they are not AFK.
2. "Crafting". This one is a little more noticeable to the point where people who are doing this are finding places to hide to do it. They go into crafting and start to craft. However they just leave it there and go AFK. The system thinks that they are crafting and so again, they aren't kicked.
3. Looking at the marked board (or other interactive object) and leaving that box open before going AFK.
These are just the more popular ways to avoid the AFK kick.
Due to people not logging out the queue lines might be smaller than the 4 to 5 thousand that they were before this, and are now around 2 to 3 thousand, however the line doesn't move. The 4 to 5 thousand line took about an hour or so to get through, whereas now the 2 to 3 thousand line takes 5, 6, even 7 hours just to login. There are multiple players who are going to the internet to spread the "hack" to others as well as people broadcasting it in game through the /shout chat.
Normally I don't like reporting things that I have no helpful input for, or a way to possible fix it, but this has just gotten to the point of overkill. Even if there was a way to monitor players and time them on if they are clicking or pressing keys, there are other ways around the AFK kick, although more blatant (example: turning on auto run/walk and facing a safe corner).
I hope that this at least brings attention to the problem and that I was able to express and explain what is happening in a coherent manner.
