Theres no way to make content last, if you take the XI approach now people are just going to get sick of it and move on to a newer MMO where people feel rewarded and not by chasing 1-5% drop rates/Artifical roadblocks. The ONLY reason why people are hesitant to do this with XI is because people have 9 years already invested into their characters and have friends they play with so people put up with it there.

This is the age of the casual in the MMOworld, like it or not, the problem is no MMO puts out enough content keep even the casuals at bay. What has happened in current MMO's is that its never enough content, your hardcore will blow through new content in a matter of hours while the casual will do it in a few weeks and when its all said and done theres still a 2.5-3month wait for new things to do which leads to people getting bored.

It has become an unfixable problem with the genre unless a company starts putting out content updates at an unrealistic pace to literally drown the playerbase. In the past WoW used what they called "Gating" which means you release a raid of like 10 bosses but only 4 are available at first then each week that passes a new boss unlocks to "make content last" but it was so unpopular it caused a shitstorm and they stopped doing it.

Let them get the game on solid ground. Let them implement jobs, balance the recent class action overhaul, fine-tune the market wards, gear-dying, stat allotment, monster strength, etc. Let them study the primal fights they've released so they can release better ones in the future. Let them make the game fun to play before asking for all kinds of temporary content.
This guy has hit the nail on the head.

It's all irrelevant at this stage, we don't have enough content to enforce cooldowns, maybe in future the dev team will make instances once a day assuming you win, I dont' think you should be locked out if you don't win though.

Yes its the casual MMO era but you can still enforce one day and weekly cooldowns, even WoW does this.

I think stuff like dungeons and Primals should be on 24 hour cooldown and when they add large scales raids they should be on weekly cooldowns.

SE should look at how WoW does it IMO. (which includes saving a player to a specific dungeon)

Making content harder is not the answer as we will end up with an AV situation again.

yeah but then you can just stop payment and play a different mmo instead of paying for months of nothing to do. rather then nothing to do all week? why would you want to wait for the 2 times a week an still have nothing to do inbetween. nothing to do is nothing to do. why pay for nothing to do. give us something to do or fak off. it's like paying netflix monthly but you only rent a movie once every few months. why? you can just rent the one and be done with. they gave us that. they gave us no wait times. this is good.

If you let people smash there heads into the wall until they win, they will. Hard or not it's bound to take a few days until someone gets lucky enough to win.

I'm not saying we should enforce cool-downs but really there should be some limitation to just "Oh shit let's retry it!" Make people run through a small area even to discourage mass re-do's. At least you have to obtain your loot item after a win so that is one thing and a good thing if you ask me.
