Theres still tons of houses left in the goblet. There were a couple in the mist, hadnt checked lav beds, but this was as of yesterday.

This. Unless there's been some sweep of everything in the last few days, last I checked around, there were dozens of Smalls still available. Mostly Goblet, some Lavender. Mist looked pretty full.

Admittedly, for an FC house, a small might not feel great. But it's still available. Plus with the new zone coming, hopefully with housing transfer, who knows what will open up as players move. Hard to say yet if we've filled up enough that there will be a big housing rush like on other servers.

All that said, I do kinda miss the emptiness, myself. It wasn't really a good thing for an MMO, but I still enjoyed the lack of crowds.

After hearing about Mateus, I was going to come there after moving from Gilgamesh. I leveled a character to 5 to check housing, and there was absolutely 0 houses (2 days ago). So, I opted for Goblin. As of two days ago, we still had 3 small Mist houses, and a bunch of small and medium Goblet houses.

Rather fascinating read. Honestly I'm on-side with the guys who own the ward there; they bought those plots and turned them into something interesting long before the 'Balmung refugee crisis'. They were a group of players who came to Mateus because it spoke to them, and it had the space they needed to envision their goal of building their very own settlement. The fact that suddenly all the plots have evaporated overnight, a year after they built their project isn't their fault, and the natives especially complaining they missed out really have no excuse for sitting on this so long.

I'll probably go pay their ward a visit tommorow and see if I can draw any tips for decorating my own pad from their work.

Iunno, ive seen more mateus natives mad housing is gone and blaming balmungian transfers for it than balmungians complaining theres no housing. They are used to not having any :P

Just bide your time, save some gil because the second that the Balmung population drops to the point where the server can open up, your refugee's will drop Mateus like it's hot and run back to Balmung and you'll be able to get a house then.

Yeah I'm a transfer myself, and people have been pretty unpleasant about it. Indeed the first Mateus FC we joined, we ended up leaving after they became hostile to us.

Your FC had YEARS to get enough gil to buy a house with empty plots and didn't and now its other people's fault for finally showing up years later to buy them?

In all honesty, they should relinquish the plots and just keep two if they're all just as bad as this sampling. FFXIV is also not the game for this type of debauchery, they should play The Sims or Minecraft where they're not going to affect other people's level of enjoyment in a MMO.

I'm laughing so hard right now. Remember all the times when someone from Balmung mentioned housing and no one cared because #Balmung problems. How the tables are turning.
And as for the guys that own the ward. As long as they are using the houses and enjoying I don't care how many they have...even if they were on Balmung. Better that than empty shell FC houses or people who buy for profit.
