I disagree with the OP on the reasons why (honestly gil-making on this server is extremely easy due to inflation, that's not even a real complaint), but I will completely admit that Mateus is pretty much 100% unrecognizable from what it was a month ago in multiple ways and that's not something I particularly enjoy.

While I completely understand the need for balanced servers, I still prefer the small home town feel this server used to have. Now? I barely recognize any faces.

To add to that, a transfer can't come over bearing hundreds of millions of pure gil with them. They can bring 10mil + 5mil per retainer. The best that they can do is bring additional worth through items and try to sell it on the AH to make back their gil.

It wasn't Square that ruined your server, it was Balmung's community that all opted to move there. People on Balmung have been trying to make Mateus the other RP server for awhile now. Just be glad the server with the "Moonguard" reputation is already filled.

What did you want SE to do? Lock your low pop server from transfers? That's counter productive.

Left Exodus over a year ago and eventually settled on Mateus, enjoying how small and tight knit the community was there, planned to get an FC house eventually for our FC in a month or so. Then you opened the floodgates form Balmung.

Within a week, there are no no free houses on Mateus after ages of the wards being nearly empty. I recognize names, they're all owned by transfers from Balmung who came over with their hundreds of millions. My FC can't have a house now, none of my friends who were saving for one can, because you were too lazy to bump up their own housing capacity but decided to give them ours instead.

Better save your Gill for upcoming housing new area and remember everyone pays a fees. Besides for people who transferred from Balmung was all about the perks they got.

My mistake then. I guess they really wanted people to pop off the congested servers. I know the gil limit was a big incentive for me to stay wherever I was and my friends begged me for a while to move before I caved.

I agree with you about the small home town, I liked it. That's why I played in low population server only. Now its loud, noisy, the constant shout in Kugane about who have the biggest genitalia and it's just a matter of time until hunt drama get there. I hate that change.

As a Mateus native I have to second this. However I'm not hating on the transfer players at all for a few reasons.

1. The scarcity and lack of things on our MB plus the absurd high prices was lame.

2. A lot of the transfers I've met have been pretty cool.

3. SE convinced them to move.

I will say I didn't like the flooded housing wards. I had formed a new fc shortly before the xpac launched and while we built up our gil for a large fairly quickly, by the time we managed to get enough it was too late.

Open there's no guarantee of getting a house now. Previously I wasn't the least bit worried, on the old Mateus there would be plenty of houses Togo around. Now there will be a blitz of people rushing to get a large in shirogane and lots of people are going to miss out.

Can I add that I hate the housing system? We have the damn gil, just let us buy a large. ._.
