Impressed they own the ward; overtaken with fits of giggles at the server being their soul-mate.

Brb. Gonna eternal bond with the Behemoth server.

I honestly have mixed feelings about this. On one hand, they did do all this work to make this happen: leveled every alt to 50, leveled every FC to rank 6, and collected the gil to make it all happen. On the other hand, it's absolutely selfish for two players to own 28 plots in a single ward.

It's like... I'm a little pissed off they took so many plots but it's actually kind of aweome that they were diligent and determined enough to grind to get them all? Does that even make sense?

To say they worked for the gil is a bit charitable considering even the minimum price that would bill up is in the millions.

And they say they did it selling Palace drops.

Nothing suspicious about this at all.

I feel the need to correct this because this is an incredibly misleading statement that I believe was not elaborated on. It was only the first house on our alts that was done by Palace drops. I don't think you have a concept of how empty Mateus was and how little there was on the market despite there being demand for it. On Mateus at the time, before 50-100 was released and it crashed the market, Tier V materia was selling for 300-500k each, so you really only needed a few lucky drops.

I've seen a lot of transfers from Balmung and Gilgamesh come to Mateus and have sticker shock even now that the markets have deflated slightly. Our Ironworks pieces were still 1-2mil a month ago, for example. That 100 million gil you came to Mateus with? On this server right now it's probably only worth the equivalent of 30 due to the high costs of items. Four months ago it would be about 10. Inflation.

Edit: Just as an example, Nightmare Pegasus Whistles were 30 million until very recently (they're 20 million now); Fiend Saps were 7-10 million each because we have so few people running the content.

It clearly wasnt selfish at the time - no one wanted those plots, obviously, if the two had the time to level up yet another character/FC, earn the money and buy the land - they even said themself that they saw more people moving out than in during the time. No one but them was intrested! And now people are coming forward and calling them selfish when they didnt care to buy those house back when the land was just open to purchase!

Now people could bother to move to a smaller server instead of overcrowding Balmung and now people on Mateus realise that houses are a ressource that isnt endless, even on their server aswell (something they should have seen coming when they announced that there would be free-transfer-plans) - and so it is now that people are crying "dont be selfish" and complain about those two who put in the effort to get all those houses when no one else wanted them.
They saw empty land and decided they want to build something when no one else wanted to - and now, suddenly, people want to and they should leave? I'm not sure who is selfish here... at the very least, its both sides.

Honestly...like I get the fact the people worked for it, but there comes a point where if you are at a paid gym and you take 30 basketballs from the locker and others love basketballs too and would like to play but there are no basketballs left yet you refuse to share your basketballs even though you cannot even play with 30 at once...crosses the line into selfish at that point since you have way more than can be used by one or even two people.

All those houses don't get used really...they sit vacant as decoration trophies since two people can't use all those houses all at once.

Simple fact is no one needs that many housing units (anything above 3 for a single player is getting to be kind of meh). No one wanted them before yeah true, but now there are more people and they could at least show some courtesy by letting some of theirs auto demo (they'll get most of the gil back this way at least so not as much work lost)...instead they post a rant basically saying "how dare you want housing, all that ward is ours, too bad".

Makes me sad that people cannot share and actually get mad that people would even dare ask them to even though they have way more than they can use or need.

To me it isn't about 'they shouldn't give up what they worked for' it is more of 'don't be selfish when you have so much and others nothing...be kind enough to realize you don't need all those houses for two people and let some go so some more players can have fun as well'.

Obviously the housing system has problems/flaws...so that doesn't help, but since right now this is how it works have a heart and don't hoard a whole ward to two people when others really want homes too.

I too aspire one day to own a whole Ward so I can dedicate it to my fanfiction.

In mild addendum, if you wanted to decorate something like than than buy a Large House and purchase rooms. There you go. Buying a whole Ward up of the Small/Medium etc houses is just really selfish and actually pretty rude. Like the basketball example used above it's more or less a case of someone deciding to act on their own and for themselves rather than consider the fact that others would be moving and could've wanted to obtain something for themselves.

It's also not feasible for this money to be made wholly naturally. There is now way given population and such that the economy had -that- much gil flowing through it.

    This, but unironically.

While I respect the work that went in to obtaining and setting up all those houses, and while I'm currently satisfied with my housing situation, and while I understand and relate to the feelings of making a good friend through fandom, I still don't think it's right to own 28 houses. Clearly Seraph and Cyril are super into their Ascian lore and their friendship, and I get that this makes it hard to consider giving up things they built together, but it seems excessive. It doesn't seem neighborly, but it was pretty clear in Seraph's post that she has no interest in being neighborly--she doesn't want neighbors. Even the ones she mentions in her post seem to get described disparagingly.

I love housing, too. I love decorating and I've gone on a Tour of Homes with friends on a few servers (including with a friend yesterday to go see the infamous Goblet Ward 12; even if some were less impressive than others on my tour yesterday, I'll admit there's an item placement idea or two I squirreled away for later experimentation). Even on Balmung when I thought it was out of reach, I was always curious about what others were doing. I'm excited for my FC to get a house in the new district and my friends are all excited to see what I do with it. Yesterday during my tour, while I provided commentary to my friends, they asked why I didn't blog about the houses I visited (by invitation and with permission only; I've seen too many "roleplay critique" blogs out there being mean-spirited because that's how they get their kicks, not to mention social currency).

    But I would never.
    Ever.
Sit there and tell someone that the way they decorated their house was bad, and that they're better off not having it because I could do better than them.

I didn't report the owners of Ward 12--mostly because I don't really think there's any "there" there; we will see what comes of it--but I definitely don't support them.

Anyway, me and my 20 friends are going to get back to playing the game. On Mateus. Because it's our home now.
