Very nice to see the progressing from Final Fantasy XIV 1.0. from being a failure to the success the actual game has.
This is a documentary not being made by Square Enix themselves but its about interviewing producers, translators etc.

About their thoughts and passion while they developed the original game and how they started re-developing FFXIV.
In the end developers are all humen, too. In contrast to other people who think dev's are lazy for programming a game that is full of bugs and that doesnt turn out as successfull.

I watched it, really engaging and interesting stuff. I'm personally a massive fan of behind the scenes sort of stuff from developers and game companies, so this video was right up my alley.I originally planned to get 1.0, bought a collector's edition for myself and as a birthday gift for a friend, but after getting in to the beta and playing the game I realized just how bad it was, immediately refunded both pre-orders and took him out to dinner instead where I warned him of what I nearly got us in to!

Now years later I felt the game was worth the money and I'm glad I'm hear. Hearing Yoshida be so candid about things was really nice to hear, especially how he basically told his team "my way or the highway" and took charge and then his incredibly ballsy presentation to corporate. Then the bit about Soken being so enthusiastic didn't surprise me either, Soken is awesome and that sounds like something he'd do, if you've seen him on stage you understand.

But after watching it I have to go ahead and reaffirm a statement I've said in the past, Yoshida and his team are amazing and they managed to save this game, not only from being even more of a disaster than it was, in to a quality (and profitable!) product.

I wouldnt say that it was bad overall. It had its very strenghts.

The motion capture animations, the graphics, the world feeling (though elements were partly copy & paste) and gridania region was too repetive. Thats what i liked about 1.0. Loved the Gridania Intro: Gridania Intro 1.0. with Yda and Papalymo.
The weather effects: Weather 1.0., and i even liked the "fresh" combat (regarding to standard MMorpgs) though it very lacked to server response, animation locks and all. And the english dub was better

But in the end of the day FFXIV 2.0. + is much much better to the wider audience, with better content and quality, gameplay and quest wise and user friendly systems (duty finder etc.). And i love how stormblood is going so far

I've yet to see any weather effects since as interesting as the 1.x high winds in La Noscea on a partially cloudy day.
