Welp, if they don't deal this amount of damage they are just gonna become the new HW monk.

My question is, didn't they say this kind of class design was a problem in one of their live letters / fanfests?
Like they directly or indirectly called out HW's monk's lack of group utility as a design they wanted to fix with SB?
I just want to know why they'd turn around and do it again with samurai.
~sigh~

Sam was advertised as a high damage job, not the best job.
I mean i very much knew they would make it OP over some existing jobs because the amount of hype.(It is fun though, don't get me wrong)
While many fights again do not favour blm at all, i would tend to say in single target blm would at very least close (Maybe even higher dmg). Sam can chain in more attacks faster then blm can cast, not taking triple casting into consideration mind you.
Also some were early to dismiss Red mage aoe (it's not that bad) and it's single target damage is really good.
Simply put, it is still far too early to make assumptions when not much real testing has been done. things can be changed during Sb also.

@Maero. I dont think RDM or SAM need to be changed, as stated by Selova, SAM brings zero utility to the party and has virtually NO self preservation capability (IE AoE CC abilities such as Tether or Tri-Bind) has no stuns or sleeps and RDM is almost as bad in that regard in that it's only good CC is Tether but unlike SAM, it has Vercure at lvl 54 which gives RDM way better staying power when solo against more then one enemy. A SAMs best bet in dealing with multiple enemies is killing them all as fast as possible by way of a great offense being the best defense.
As Ive said, SAM has a reason to have such high damage, it needs it.
Sam is easy.
Do combo 1. Do combo 2. Do combo 3. Kiaaaaa when gauge full. Boss is now dead.
Jk, exaggeration, but yea. Seriously. It's a really simple class.
Finally an actuall debate rather than a one side attack saying Sam is the best, I made this thread cause I want to know how all classes felt about it, not just a Sam is great echo chamber. Again my observations are from what I see from the class skills and even more from player base, particularly mnk and drg. Now that this debate has truelly started, let's bring in the data, please post any relevant data that you find, whether it follows your viewpoint or not. Thanks and good luck. (Ps: my point is not meaningless because of trolling)
its a new class there stil gonna be nerfs incoming

Imo and basing it mainly in the values I've seen and the SSS requirements SAM isn't broken and is where it should be, the problem is the other melee jobs, SAM hits hard as advertised. It's seems to be one of those high skill floor but really high hard skill ceiling jobs, easy to play but hard to optimise, which imo you have to hit to justify your position over another job with more utility. Monks not in the worst position compared to SAM, the issue is ninja has received a significant buff considering its utility so Monks have been left in the position of "well why wouldn't we bring a ninja instead" the little utility monk has gained do not make up for the buffs ninja received... and drg, well they got screwed imo, lowest SSS req of the 4.

The training dummies for high level duties that if you can "beat" as your job you are doing the minimum expected of you dps wise (without mechanics, party buffs etc). The time limit being 3 minutes to beat it but depending on your job the dummy has different HP values. So SAM has the highest HP SSS dummy to beat atm, followed by BLM.
