Semi new player looking for advice.

Ive dabbled with FFXIV a fair bit on and off - i had a level 20 character and decided to buy the pack to bring me up to level 60? with a class, just so i can jump into the action with the release of stormblood.
But im ever so slightly confused about some stuff.
How do i progress? supposedly i have to get some eggs from these things but they dont seem to drop any eggs at all? So i cant push through with the stormblood content.
I used the class level thing to make a dragoon come up to its max level at the time, and i was expecting the dragoon armor and weapon to come with it. But instead it came with shire equipment which looks nothing like the dragoon?

First and foremost, welcome back.

Secondly, I'm confused as to what eggs you are talking about, as you didn't really provide any context. What is the name of the quest you are on? Did you also buy the story-skip potions in tandem with the job boost?

As for the gear... and this is pure speculation because I have no way to confirm this right now:

Since you bought the job boost potion, it is supposed to have completed all job quests up to level 60 for that class. This means you "did" the level 45 and 50 job quest for DRG. This means you should have unlocked the DRG artifact armor (the armor that is in the picture you provided). Odds are, you're probably going to need to talk to the Calamity Salvager to get it. The Calamity Salvager allows you to rebuy certain pieces of special equipment that you might have ditched for some reason. In this case, never technically got, but should have. Or, you might already have it in your armory chest. Though, I figure you'd know if you did by now.

Calamity Salvager's are at:
- Limsa Lominsa: Upper Decks - X11.3 Y14.3
- Old Gridania: X10.0 Y8.4
- Ul'dah - Steps of Thal X:12.6 Y:13.1

There may be two versions - the Draken set and the Wyrm set. Wyrm is slightly better than Draken. Both are WILDLY terrible compared to Shire gear. If you can get your hand on some glamor prisms, however, you should be able to wear the Shire gear but change their outward appearance to be your DRG AF1 armor. Provided you have the DRG AF armor in the first place. You can't glam something you don't have.

As for the weapon, that is the DRG relic weapon, and that's a whole different quest system for a weapon that is light-speed inferior to the shire weapon you got. However, if you want to get that one as well - and provided you bought the story-skip potion....

If you can get your hand on some glamor prisms, however, you should be able to wear the Shire gear but change their outward appearance to be your DRG AF1 armor. Provided you have the DRG AF armor in the first place. You can't glam something you don't have.

Use of the glamour system also requires a quest to unlock it. (It's just a quick talk to a couple NPCs quest.) The quest is A Self-improving Man, which you can pick up from Wiscard in Mor Dhona (x22.1, y6.7).

Did you also buy the pack to skip the story? Because otherwise your level 60 DRG will be working on whatever level 20 quest you had before.

I didnt buy the story skip potion - just the level one. Which means im still on the low level quests, the quest with the eggs is "eft for effort" or something, its stormblood related?

An Eft for Effort just asks you to kill some efts. There's an egg collecting one that comes next, though , Eggs over Queasy, which asks you to kill some chigoes to collect chigoe egg sacs.

The egg sacs are special items that drop only during the quest, so go in a separate "Key Items" section of inventory rather than your regular inventory, but if you have the quest on your quest tracker, it will keep track of how many you have, and you'll see the quest's objective change from collecting them to delivering them to the NPC once you have enough. If it says "Obtain eight chigoe egg sacs from chigoes. 0/8", then you don't have them yet, and must not be killing the right thing. If it says "Deliver the chigoe egg sacs to Monranguin at Gilbert's Spire" then you've got all you need.

It's indirectly Stormblood related in the sense that the storylines lead into each other, so you do the Realm Reborn main scenario which leads to the Heavensward main scenario which leads to the Stormblood main scenario. An Eft for Effort is part of the original ARR main scenario and as such is a prerequisite for reaching the SB ones (other than with a story skip potion). There's a long way to go from the level 7 quest you're on to the level 60 ones that start Stormblood proper.
