I do find some fate names really funny and I am okay if they stick some kind of references there but at the same time I want to play a character in Eorzea that has its own originality and not a copy of other games. In the end I kinda have mixed feelings about their use of these references and reuse of other Final Fantasy stuff. As someone that only played FF13 and this game, most of the references to other Final Fantasy games are going over my head and I only know about it because people post these stuff.
Yet every time I see a monster from FF13 I am not really that happy because I know that they are only reused models from that game and then I see all the posts about monsters and other parts of the game that are reused things from older Final Fantasy games and other games/books/movies references that I kinda question what would remain of the game if you strip all that away? Where does it truly stand on its own? I am fine with references or using existing primals in a different way but I still wish that they would create more completely original stuff.
And about translation and stuff: They did change Haurchefants character in other versions and it seems that Yoshida did not know about these changes (someone asked him about the different translations) and with Heavensward they made him more like is Japanese original thus making some people suspicious of him because he was behaving a bit different. I am fine if they change some bits but I am not fine with changing characters just because some people could dislike them or be uncomfortable. Also I would find it nice if they cut down on the 4th wall breaking. Alisea seems to be quite the 4th wall breaker in SB with some of her sentences and I am kinda glad that the German version is not that bad because at the end of the day I would want to play as the character of a world and not be reminded that no we are not truly a character of that world. It just breaks immersion.
