Revamping, makes no sense really if you going to revamp the animation why not just keep the current one and have another revamped one for the new skill?

My honest guess would be, that they have a new animation planned for doomspike long term, so they already moved it to a stock animation. They want full thrust to have the doomspike animation. either that or it was an unintended bug.

Its not really any lazier than anything else honestly. in fact it may have required extra effort to link doomspike with a new animation. So its probably just a style choice, or a long term plan, like how they ninja d damage being effected by dex for archers in 1.19 in prep of 1.20

What i really wonder though, is how long is it going to take for them to get the new animations in? 1.21? 1.22? or is it something not slated to change until 2.0
