gagana leather - question

Small question, the gagana leather dropped from the Lesser Gagana birds, is there any other way to get those?
It's not that it takes quite some time to kill one, that there aren't that many, that they have an aweful droprate nor that LW requires a lot of these but... yeah.

Is there another efficient way to get LW mats or you just need to farm the same mobs for hours while looking at your exp bar goes up by 0.00001% for every kill?

don't search sylvain like in hw the leatherwork have get the short hand of the stick... it's the only craft that need you to farm ah for get a good quantity of your basic material... i did kill about 40-50 of this for get 16 skin, when you need 3 per leather + the mineral you must go mining. in the end leatherwork is the worst craft of all... with HW they had decided that one skin was too easy, and get them too fast too was too easy... the trouble is other craft simply need to go gather and it's easy to make 1-2 stack of material from gathering in the same time for get 30-40 skin.

yes a lot of player will kill monster and probably get this skin, but the price at the ah are insane and it make the craft horrible to level up. only because skin are somehow hard to get and ask to have 3 for one leather. if it was one skin for one leather with this drop it will be ok. but that not the case leading to a real big trouble about getting material for level up.

yes servant can bring you this sort of thing, but it recquire that you level up your servant and the class link to them. all in all... it's a pain and need to be adressed. they still don't get that progression craft and end game craft are different, what is rare for end game craft is logical, make it rare for the progression craft only allows crafter, the rich one, to remain rich and make new crafter life a pain.

Sending your retainers for the skins is really not that bad. One hour, two different retainers? If you play actively, you can get dozens or even in the triple digits within a day without much effort. Of course, that does require to have had your retainers ready (level 60) before the expansion, pretty much...

There's always desynthesis, but few of us delved into it enough for it to be realistically feasible. You really needed to have had that levelled up before the expansion to make it without spending millions, though, which is quite an issue for most. That's my way of doing it, in any case. I make profit buying that gear for low on the market, and selling the materials - leathers in this case, and plenty of other things.

My solution ironically has been to mine SB nodes, craft the Highsteel nuggets, and sell on the Market, then turn that gil around and buy skins from it. Sad state that a miner and Blacksmith can "gather" skins faster then what should be the preferred method.

In about 20m I can farm enough materials to make and sell 40 nuggets. At current market prices, my return buys me about 3x as many skins. After farming beasts for the same amount of time, I average about 9 skins...the materials for 3 leathers. Not to mention having the alumen...another mining material. something that I don't need for my nuggets.

I'm leveling my retainers, but due to a main class change, i have to relevel most of them in order to get to 62 to even get the venture option. They need better solutions then this. can't figure out why it's still broke after 2 expansions. Do any of the dev's even farm leather?

The biggest bottleneck on crafting materials are the monster dropped ones as rates are far too low, they are fought over by different players. Gathering nodes are personal. There's really no way to improve collection rate of monster loot despite killing them faster and having 2 star mount speed you will end up running out of mobs until they respawn.

SE does subtly acknowledge it through the material design as it takes only 3 skins to make a leather, and there is no equivalent like Nugget -> Ingot or Yarn -> Cloth that takes up to 12 of the basic material.

Still, this makes Hunting retainers by far the most valuable, especially if you seek to be self sufficient. Optimally you are usually able gather a stack of a gathering mat in less than 10 minutes, yet by this time you might not be able to get even 10 skins. So it's much faster if you justfocus on gathering/crafting and selling it on the MB to finance your skin supply.

As a suggestion for SE, it would be interesting if by repeatedly killing monsters we'd learn how to better collect their loot, giving a permanent drop rate bonus. After killing 500 Gaganas, one would expect to be able to reliably be able to skin them much more efficiently.

Yeah I was doing fine leveling up with just what my retainer has brought back for me. But now I ran into a wall Because now my weaver also need monster loot to make dawn serge cloth, and I have to choose between level up ltw or weaver first. Right now I am sending for the manes for weaver and idk what I Will do with ltw I guess I will save my leve for them only.

You would think having bigger maps would let the world be at least more populated than 2.0. Instead you just find these little pockets of whatever you need and there's only 6 of them in the entire game. Usually scattered over a large area too.

Retainers are the most efficient, expedient and least headache inducing way to accrue mob dropped crafting mats IMO. It may not seem that way but it's true as far as I can tell. Send them out every hour on the hour whenever you're playing and do something else while they get you your drops. Fighting over mobs for non-guaranteed drops is a relic of times when nary a sheep could be found in central highlands due to the mass genocide occurring over fleece.
