You don't really need anymore than 440CP to craft to HQ items. If you need more you might want to revisit your rotation I guess.

You don't need to pentameld CP materia to max CP caps on any of the items. There's a nice rotation right now that uses 455 CP. I suppose you could hit that with food, but it'll be nice to not use food again for a while until we all find out what the new recipes entail.

In general, you want to hoard materias and wait to know the requirements for sure so you don't "waste" materias. Melding to meet a rotation requirement is probably fine, but melds are done quickly so it isn't like you NEED to do it now.

Are these new books in the game already?? If so, where!?

yeah with new battlegear and new crafter/gathering gear as always. (not sure why people still surprised about, it's always the same routine)

I'm either looking at something wrong or you seem to have mistakenly not selected a waist slot item at all. With an even mildly melded waist your total stats on Ariyala will be somewhat higher, especially control. Whether that makes you reevaluate your control melds on other pieces or just keep them and stack even more that is up to you to decide.
