Can't remember now, but was it possible to hit the IW requirements if you had the max melded i150 set, with max melded i170 acc and i170 main/off?
I don't think so. There was one (then later, a second equal, all-class that was easier to gather materials for) tier between the i190/i195 Ironworks and the i150 set, which was i170 and was obtained through crafting with Favor materials. That stuff had to be melded well to craft the i190/i195 stuff, though not max melded (the Carbonweave set could do it, and could not be overmelded).
Right now I'm sitting at 1100/1080 (new left side white MH OH nothing melded) and ironw fully melded.
Looking at the past master books the pattern is they increase Craft and control 100+ more so we looking at master book V to be 1280/ 1200 ish
Roughly
i get yesterday all crafters/ gathering jobs to lvl 70 but i will wait with melds until Masterbooks are out, also already prepared full 290 set for the case it will become in need.

What's the point of max-melding when we can literally craft everything HQ on our recipes? Personally, I am only melding a few cheap CP materia. I am going to wait until they release the new Mastet Books and green/blue gear before even thinking about advanced melding.
It would be rather silly to blow a few million on melding right now to craft our current easy recipes that could be done without melding. Surely, if you max meld now, you will have a very easy time when they release new recipes in he next patch. But the new recipes may contain new crafting gear that require melding again anyway. Thus, instead of max-meld, I would actually aim for a min-meld when I need more stats in the next patch!
For now, I'm just gonna sit around collecting materia, and meld them later when the time is right.
ATM liv70 set it's enough?
mind to level all my DoH to 70 and using it and replace my IW set.
Ironworks is good enough for all recipes except for the 1* level 70 ones (due to min stat requirements). Difficulty is laughably easy so it doesn't matter what you do. You'll still HQ everything with ease and from all NQ materials and the entire system so far is really just an illusion of a mini-game. Tons of choices, but the end result is always the same. Currently, it doesn't make a difference whether you're multi-class, single class, specialist, non-specialist, well geared, not well geared, know the system, or don't know the system.
For the 1* glamour and minion recipes, you you can just craft the tools, 1 ring, and use a control food buff to meet the minimum requirements. If you aren't interested in the glamours, you can even just stick to level 65 for now and craft everything except for the 1* recipes while slowly leveling to 70.

Some people like to max meld some people don't. I personally just wanna reach the new cap to be able to craft the next set.
As long as you have enough control craft for the next tier you should be fine. Max melded is not necessary. Just some people like to do it.
see what i am saying! new crafter gear out!
