    Please Update the Hermes Shoes.

I know that only us Legacy people have access to these shoes, but they only work in town. They used to allow us to have 100% up time on sprint in town, now its cut to 50% with the Sprint changes. Please update the shoes to bring us back closer to that 100% up time.

(yeah yeah I know, first world problems... )

Or just increase Sprint duration to 50 seconds outside of combat. Problem solved.

The hermes shoes were from people who had subs for XI and XIV during their campaign, I have the CE from 1.0 and do not have the shoes.

I vote for updating the shoes for permanent sprint, and also adding locations like the gold saucer to their usage, and above all else, I think they should be brought back into the game so everyone can get them. I have a pair, and rather everyone get an updated useful item, as opposed to me having a very rare item that grants me 10 seconds of extra sprint, with a 30 second cooldown, when it used to give me permanent.

Conversely, shove the shoes, and add a run speed addition to cities and the gold saucer, similar to the new mount speed we got in stormblood.

As someone who has Hermes Shoes (on two characters, even), I have to say, they should not buff them. I know if I was a new player and I found out that there was an item that made sprinting in town easier, and they improved it but I could never get it, I'd be pissed.

Plus, +40 seconds wouldn't be appropriate anyway. It would either remain +10 seconds (because it's a 50% buff to the duration) or maybe +20 seconds (to reflect that the Sprint Shoes add 1/3 of the recast time to the duration). It used to be that normal players could sprint 2/3 of the time, while people with Sprint Shoes could 3/3 of the time. Your proposed change would widen that gap from 1/3 Sprint to 3/3 Sprint, thus making them far more desirable (despite being impossible to obtain).
