Mostly because Yoshida said he was considering doing that on a Liveletter and everybody cheered.
I really hope it's for everyone because I don't want to demolish my house, go to a zone to buy a new one, and end up losing both in the bloodlust that follows
I personally doubt they'll open up the zone without also having transfers available. It would make zero sense to add transfers later, after all the plots are already taken.
They've only confirmed that FCs will me able to move. They have yet to confirm or deny whether individual player houses will be able to use the move feature.
It's worth noting that FCs using the moving feature will have to purchase the plot of land at full price. Their workshop and airship progress will remain intact when they move.
Since it's confirmed that you have to buy the plot, even when moving, and individual player houses don't workshops, the only thing moving would do for an individual player is guarantee they wouldn't lose their old plot. Beyond that, the move feature wouldn't provide any benefit (to an individual) over the current system of relinquishing your old property and buying a new plot.

I would like to thank you for this comment. I was looking to move to the new area, but was told to just transfer over. But I was rather confused by it, as it didnt seem to matter if I just relinquished my house, and went to buy the new plot.

Which is what Im going to end up doing. Im just not sure when to relinquish my house. I took all my stuff out already and 98% ready to move (Just need to take my Bell/Mender out).
So I guess any time would work for me, and it will help out any FCs that are looking for a large plot right now.
There's no limitation to what kind of outside wall you can use for a house though. So yeah, expect to see stone mansions all over shirogane if the owners so choose.
There is though. Ever notice how there are no white stone houses in the Lavender beds? Or clay colored houses in the Mists? or heavily tree based designs in the goblet?

I've changed my house exterior a few times and never seen an error message pop up. So that's strange if true.
The crafted housing glamours don't have an area limitation (moogle, chocobo, merchant's, etc) however the Riviera/Oasis/Glade roofs, walls, windows, doors and fences are all area restricted.
If transfers are in at the beginning of Shirogane I'll be extremely irritated. The plots are already too few, apartments don't magically fix the issue and the only way I'll ever be able to own a house in this game is by breaking the rules that are arbitrarily enforced.
Shirogane offers me an opportunity to beat the queues and finally get a house that I've been trying to get since literally the release of housing and if people could just transfer there right off the bat then it kills that chance, because any plots in the other zones will just be snapped up by owners already in that zone.
