for one thing, yes, as a new player i would be impressed to see a veteran player move much faster than i can. however, on the other hand, it just sounds like some people just defend this new system for the sake of standing out and present what they have achieved. in other words, its a selfish way to flatter themselves and what they have achieved. either way, it is a terrible source of motivation in the eyes of someone that just does not care about cosmetics or appearances until they are really into the game.

But catching up is inevitable for a new player in a MMORPG. If riding a chocobo and unlocking flying are both locked behind progression, how is this any different? At this point it almost sounds like you just want to benefit the new features without working for it. I support more choices to obtain the new speed, I also support the re-adjustment to the cost for ARR manual as there are far more areas to unlock, but I don't think SE is wrong just because they decided we should put in some work to benefit from said feature. And also, with regards to your previous comment, no. I'm not one for exclusive or be a special snowflake.
