Another RDM main hopping in to spread the love. <3
It's my favorite job in the entire Final Fantasy franchise. I don't care about the recent criticisms towards its play-style. I love it.

Well we know they can't complain about the DPS on it... the DPS on RDM is enormous.
Every parce I've seen has them way out in front. Don't know whether its due to the mobility or whatnot, but its way high.
Ever since I started playing MMO's back in 2005 I always played healer classes. The role of the healer suits me and it's something I enjoy doing. Tanking is not my cup of tea and DPS is something nice for solo, but not really my thing for group play.
That said, when the Red Mage was announced and seeing the job trailer I was instantly interested in the job. So when early access went active, instead of going MSQ with one of my healer jobs I've decided to level up Red Mage first. Just arrived at level 57 and having a real blast with the job. And don't even have Verflare or Verholy yet to blast stuff with
In all my years playing MMO's the Red Mage is the first time I'm seriously considering playing a DPS class as main. Of course it doesn't hurt from a healers perspective to be able to cast a pretty powerful heal and when needed the ability to resurrect someone. Don't have the res yet, but Vercure has proven it's worth many times now.
What I also like is the mana management. Sometimes I'm not paying attention, and ugh it will be awhile to rebalance black/white. When I'm playing it right, it's a fluid gameplaying experience
I'll be sticking to Red MageI'm definitely seeing red

I am glad this thread was here, I've been hearing so many bad things about it I have been doubting whether or not to actually play it. I usually main 2 jobs one melee and one ranged. I have leveled my SAM to 70 and am now debating on what ranged I should have. I think I will actually give RDM a shot.
I've loved RDM throughout the whole franchise and I was so excited when they announced it for SB. I was not disappointed.
The concept is simple, easy to understand and if you're paying attention, easy to execute. (Yes I have got lost in my rotation and Dualcast Jolt... Shush...)
For those people moaning that it's "too simple", I am reminded of a quote I used from another RDM player in FF11 (yes they are different, I know)
I'll take the fluid motion and weaving of mele and magic in 14 over the stress of 11 any day!Ringthree quote:
These people live on the edge between sanity and insanity, reason and psychotic episodes. If you ever interrupt the "refresh, dispel, refresh, gravity, refresh, OH CRAP CURE, debuff, nuke, refresh, OH CRAP CURE, dispel refresh" cycle, you my find that the Red Mage's armor will be red because it is stained with your blood
It's already my main class. Currently at level 66 and loving it, can't wait to get Verflare and Verholy. Impact is a cool change that you get at level 66, even if it's a pretty simple change. It's always fun to fill the mana bars aligned with Embolden and unleash some pretty good damage with the melee combo.

<3 I'm jealous of all the RDM that are already lvl 70 and can play with the full kit!! The job is super fun and great burst damage , can't wait to level it after I finish leveling my ACN.
Just hit level 60 last night with it. Doing the job quests now. Love it a lot. I found BLM not to my tastes, which is why I was a SMN for so long, but now RDM I feel like I have something close to the destructive elemental power of BLM, but with more flexibility to move around. Also not having a pet to worry about is a plus.
