So as of the time of this writing the top three posts are posts griping about RDM. Not a single thread on the front page with positivity. People have every right to complain, but let's see if we can't get some good feedback too.

Personally I love RDM as it is. Will happily main it, and I've been a loyal BLM since 2.0. I enjoy dualcast, and I actually like the fact that it is geared more towards ranged with a bit of melee thrown in.

I agree i love how i feel like i have this arsenal of level one spells. Its cool to see how many casts i can make without having to cast jolt.

Dualcast raise so op too! Lol

Question though for other rdm. Do you use drain? Or just stick with vercure?

I'm really enjoying the class! It's a little on the simple side, but I enjoy the flow of the class a lot. I'd like to see a little more going on mechanically, but I'm very satisfied and having a ton of fun despite not really getting into casters before. Dualcast feels really good, and the skills look rad.

I don't bother with drain at all, if I need a self heal I use Vercure. I am curious what other RDMs use for cross class though, my current set up is Lucid Dreaming, Swift Cast, Apoc, Addle, and Erase.

The only difference between yours and mine is that I swap out Apoc for Diversion. If all the cooldowns are up at the start of a boss fight it makes it hard on a tank >

VERY true, I usually find that Lucid Dreaming on CD is enough to stay behind the tank in enmity though, at least while leveling.

I'm really loving the job. It's just so fun, dancing all over the battlefield with spells and blade flying. Manafication at 60 really sped things up even more for me and now I can't wait till I get 70 and have the full kit.

Love the sword staff too, that's really creative.

Lucid dreaming cuts your enmity in half, given rdm doesn't have bad mp problems you can pop it after an opening burst. In anything where pulling hate for a few seconds might matter some you'd likely have a tank who you can coordinate with. Basically let rdm burst, provoke, lucid and good to go. Part of the reason for me is I just feel a bit slot starved. Lucid, erase, and swiftcast are required.Surecast is pretty powerful now, likewise apoc and addle are going to be used on magical fights, and rdm probably could manage to use mana transfer.

Consider using the new Surecast. When a knockback is coming, you can use Surecast and do your weaponskill combo, which doesn't consume Surecast; or if mana isn't high enough for a WS combo, Surecast and a slow Veraero/Verthunder.

I'm using a setup similar to you, but trading erase for it.

Personally loving Red Mage a lot! Simple, mobile, high burst.

I see a lot of people complain that it's mostly caster and no melee....I have to wonder if they're using Corps-a-Corps and Displacement only to move in/out for melee combo. If Manafication is up, there's no reason to hold onto these since their CDs get reset. They're technically using your sword, so slash 'em up! It makes it feel like you're a melee a lot more.
