Both Yotsuyu and Gosetsu are known survivors by habit. Also, SE needs to appease the players that want to be stepped on.I'm torn, honestly.
I think the way in which they handled Nanamo's 'death' was very cheap and contrived. On the other hand, I adored Yotsuyu as a character and I'm very glad to see that she survived. Given that she became cruel as a result of being treated horribly by the Domans I feel like there's a lot of potential left for her in terms of story. It certainly adds shades of grey to Doma's tale.
I go by the trope that if there's no body or last moment the guy will be shown to be alive later tbh, also Gosetsu was already hinted of beign alive by the turtle, that said as Nanamo told us even that rule may fail, afterall this is a world where the concept of death is quite random
I'm still holding out that the Sultana died and the current one is a puppet Lolorito installed.
Tbh I wouldn't of expected certain character to be dead, they are too new for that.

Keeping Yutsuyu and Gosetsu alive seem a good ideal in my opinion because on one side we have Yutsuyu who lived through how corrupt and how bad the old Doma government was when Hien has only heard stories of only the good side of Doma since he was not born until after Doma became conquered. Then we have Gosetsu who is probably going to be the first person that has ever shown Yutsuyu kindness in her entire life thus making her question her own actions because really her life was very Fed up because of the old Doma Government and how corrupted the higher officials were from abusive parents that no one tried to stop to being sold by her brother to a abusive husband who everyone told her to suck it up and let him beat you like a "prostitute" she is and then after she was sold to the pleasure house to be a prostitute to pay off debts left by her family until the Garlean Empire appeared and offer her revenge.
In a way this may also develop Hien's story arc as well since Hien never knew how corrupt the old Doma government was since, as I said before, he has only heard stories of only the good part of Doma before Garlean rule.
I'm glad they didn't kill him solely due to the reaction to Haurchefant's death. Two years of dealing with the reactions that never seem to stop and only get more and more dramatic as time passes has been excruciating and I don't want to go through the same Gosetsu melodrama. I'd like a break for a bit. All joking aside, I'm glad that they didn't kill them. I don't want them to set the bar for expansions at exactly 1 pseudo important character death must happen.
