    A PSA to all upset tank players

    Hello, forum readers!

    So there's been a lot of grief going on about the current state of the tanking roles, with PLD being abundantly better than the other two jobs, as well as many people (myself included) believing that the overall "fun factor" of tanking in Stormblood has taken a drastic hit.

    I'm not going to sit here and lay out the reasons why I feel this way, you've probably read them a thousand times before across all the other threads on the subject. To capstone for the sake of the thread, there's a lot of tank players who are upset about the way tanking was designed in Stormblood, with it being substantially less engaging than it was in the past.

    If you're just going to ignore my statements in the previous threads and state "tanks should only focus on tanking" or whatever, cool, whatever. I'm not here to argue with you. Instead, I just have one thing I'd like to say, to all the fellow tanks out there who, like me, don't like the direction taken.

    Vote with your playtime.

    If you're disgruntled about the tank changes, the best possible course of action you can do is stop playing a job that you no longer find fun, and spend your time playing the game doing something that you enjoy doing. The developers have statistics, they can see how many people are playing what. If enough people share your opinions, and the already minuscule tanking population continues to dwindle, we will see change, fast.

    I know that for my part, the only reason I'm leveling WAR right now is for the sake of my friend circle, you won't catch me dead queuing for anything Duty Finder related on anything but a DPS role. It's simply more engaging, as I've argued several times in the past.

    I just hope that there's enough "True Tanks" in the game to stop us DPS players from having hour long DF queues, even after things 'balance out' in a few weeks like people are saying they will.

    Dunno, I dont notice any difference with tanking and it's still gobs of fun.

    Ain't gonna stop playing that shit just cause we took a hit to dps, that was just a bonus we had.

    Exactly. That'd be like refusing to heal because we can't DPS as hard. We can still DPS, just not as hard.
    People will find any reason to protest anything.

    That's not what I'm really upset about with WAR. I mean, sure, the stance dance penalty is annoying. But I'm upset with the gameplay changes. It doesn't feel fun anymore. I'm sure a lot of DRKs feel the same way since their rotation is like 2.0 PLD now.

    Agreed. It took a few days to get used to PLD as it is now, but I think I finally managed it. I imagine the same is true of WAR and DRK. I think that players who wanted to be tanks before the expansion and job changes, wanted to be tanks, they still want to be tanks, it's just a matter of adjusting.

    I would like to think that I have adjusted to Dark Knight as I am still playing it and am clearing EX primals with it. At the same time, I still want tank changes. You don't have to be content with the current state of tanks to be able to adjust to it. Having adjusted to the current state is how I know that changes need to be made, and is why I am trying to give as much feed back advocating changes as possible.

    Indeed. There are many things that can be improved. for example, the currently broken, so-called tank stat - Tenacity - needs to be fixed. I feel it if had the kind of impact described and expected (when we are told it's our role specific stat), then both DRK and WAR would feel better than they do right now.

    I mean, let's look at the other role specific stat - Piety. If white Mage stacks Piety, they have a crap-ton more MP, which makes a difference since it affects not only their MP regen rate but also affects their ability to sustain healing performance and/or DPS. I haven't done the analysis, but I'd wager that a healer with no additional piety stacked would perform less well than one who stacked piety simply because of the sustainability of their performance.

    With Tenacity, it makes no appreciable difference whether you stack it or not. But especially for DRK and WAR a stat that increased damage dealt, increases healing and reduces damage received would seem to be more helpful in principle since it improves their performance in 3 ways. Yet that stat is pointless, just s Parry was. The effectiveness of Tenacity needs to be increased 4 fold at least, so that it has an appreciable impact.

    Unfortunately, they didn't just upset tanks. My brother, his girlfriend and my best friend all just quit because they didn't like the changes and they play WHM, BRD and SCH respectively. I don't understand how 50-60, they did a great job adding abilities that not only enhanced jobs, but enhanced their gameplay and then they come out and this.

    I stopped playing War and started leveling Pally. I still love War to bits but I don't like the way it plays at all. Aggro gen sucks, there's no sustain to help with our squishiness, instead we're thrown mitigation CDs and it just left me asking "Why am I playing Warrior if they're no longer a lifesteal tank but another mitigation tank?" Pally is the better mitigation tank by far and from what I've been hearing has just as good damage as War. So why play War atm?

    Still pretty lifesteal-y to me, I sustain out the butt spamming path and IB, it's not a bad idea to go nuts on path once you got aggro since eye isn't wise to do more than once every 2-3 rotations anymore. Plus it builds the most beast gauge to IB even more. At 70 I frequently heal for 2-2.5k on path alone. About 4-5k on IB. And we have our big heal to use when needed
