In game map blank

Time:9am, but reoccurring problem since I used upgrade
Frequency: all the time
World name: Balmung
Character name: Myra Gradon
Other: I did use both the story line and the job upgrades on my character. Scholar if it matters

Steps:
1. My map always appears blank unless I'm in the area. The only things that show are the aetherytes. When I click on a quest and hit map I get the below picture :/ when I load into the area it shows the map of the area just fine but I can't view any part of it from outside the area.
