    Why all the Hate? People Its called change embrace

    Good Morning,

    I have just been looking through the job pages and all i can see is whining and bi*ching about how people need to look at the new gauges.
    1) they are designed to make life easier and i for one think they do this wonderfully.

    Or people complaining that they have lost skills (I hear you Dragoons crying over faint )
    2) they are still there (mostly) and it will just take some adjustment and you need to look for the new icons.

    look i know i make a thread about bitching that looks like I'm bitching so what i would like is for people to put the things they are loving about the expansion.

    I am loving the new gauges the're pretty.

    If I had to complain it wouldn't be about the gauge but about BLM's gameplay which is the same but easier with a new spell every 30seconds. And yet I'm pretty sure it still won't stop ice mages, it will even be worst, Ice IV spam with unlimited enochian.

    It's very inconsistent across jobs. WHM (and to an extent SCH) have both had their breakfasts well and truly eaten by AST, with WHM's new mechanics being very clunky and whole swathes of their functionality being further eroded to the point where they're a hollow shell of the FF series' core healing role. Those jobs feel 'incomplete' in fundamental ways, while others feel a lot smoother than before. I'm liking some of the changes very much - good riddance to the old Cleric Stance and button bloat, MCH is actually fun now at last - but others definitely need to go back to the drawing board (WHM) or have some figures/cooldowns heavily adjusted (SCH).

    There are also lots of bugs, which are fraying tempers even when they're unintended.

    Having played WHM since beta of 2.0, well into 3.0 and finally here in 4.0, the job finally got what it desperately needed the most: MP management tools on par with SCH and AST.

    Oh I agree some things are good. It's the general adaptability and low level stuff I hate (no Stoneskin at lower levels and no alternatives to AST/SCH abilities mean I cannot justify bringing WHM to FC lowman/min ilevel challenges at all, which feels dumb - they actually made this problem worse in SB). And the lily/confession stuff needs a lot of tuning. The fact that a small number of our mechanics work brilliantly doesn't make me any less sad that the rest are sort of missing/useless; in comparison AST feels pretty wonderful aside from a few obvious bugs.

    I'm not playing WHM on purpose outside of PVP until the mechanics are retuned but I'm sure it's perfectly fine in its specific niches. It's just that I like jobs to feel brilliant in different ways, not uselessly-good-at-overhealing/AoE damage - neither of which matter in a lot of content - versus generally-good-at-everything. They've messed up on the satisfaction factor, rather than the raw performance factor.

    But MNKs new UI elements doesnt make it easier to track our buffs, in fact it just makes it harder than before.

    The thing is we didnt get new buffs to track, just a stranger way to track what we had in the first place. Had SE changed the way Chakras/GL3 worked im sure people would be more enthusiastic about a large clunky thing that fits nowhere in a clean and simple UI.

    SE's powerpoint presentation made it clear they value criticism over compliments. Complaint creates change and improvement. Nothing is gained from burying heads in the sand and not everyone wants to 'embrace' change that they neither agree with or like, thanks.

    If things were so great, they'd obviously be in game enjoying it (since its just come out) instead of playing sjw on forums. Another pointless thread.

    Because not everyone fancies the changes? Why would I "embrace" something I dislike? While I like a fair number of changes, I remain very skeptical over how simplified many of the jobs feel. Dark Knight immediately comes to mind as I enjoyed it for the variety and slight complexity in its mechanics. I'm not exactly a fan of the job boiling down to "spam Dark Arts on every ability you have!"

    If I had a complaint so far it'd be that the BLM gauge is trying to convey too much information. Its not bad once you get used to it, but before, I had all the relevant information available to me in a nice, neat little row with the status icons. Now I'm looking at one corner to see how many stacks of Umbral/Astral Ice/Fire is up, the other to see if Enochian is even up, my eye drifts to the Umbral Hearts, and at the center it tells me if I have Umbral Ice or Fire and how many seconds... Its a lot to observe, keeping my eyes off the field of battle, because I just can't keep it on the field without missing things going on behind it.
