The game lightning is washed out compare to 3.x

I don't know what happened to 4.0 but the overall game lightning is washed out black. You basically have shadow with shadow! Why there are another shadow under a shadow outside of sunny day?

Some areas have light blocked off more than others, which is how some areas can be darker than others, including alternative light sources, and bouncing light from the same source. (such as the sun beating down on rocks)

Additionally the above picture looks more realistic, and the lower picture looks like a cartoon. o.o
RL colors arent as vivid as people tend to think they are.
