I love all the music of ARR/HW/SB.
I just wish I could turn off the battle music and repetitive quest start/finish snippets (it really sours the mood from "wow new adventure! new music!" to "ughhhh this overused music clip I've heard 20 times since log in")
Yeah, I wish I could turn off at least the battle music and just listen to the zone music. I already have mount music turned off.
Yep you're the only one. I highly enjoyed every single track in Stormblood. Especially all the night time piano mixes of the songs. Soken knocked it out of the park as always.
HW's theme song at the login screen (SB's opening is pale in comparison)
Final Step fight
Kights of the round
Been listening to "The Far Edge of Fate" for the past few days.. I enjoy this the most imo.
I'm finding that some of the incidental music in battle and at the end of quests for example, is grating on my nerves, I'd love for those to be rolled back to ARR ones, or to be given a choice.
I have mixed feelings about the soundtrack so far. I feel like most of the field tracks are better at night but heavensward just nailed almost every zone perfectly.
Kugane is amazing, temple of the fist rather repetitive, last dungeon and boss were top tier.
Really the only gripe I have with the expansion so far is that the midboss theme is still the same AND IT IS ONE OF THE WORST THEMES EVER!
Please remove it immediately and don't use it again... ever! --> this one <--
Gotta have to agree. I find myself humming Heavensward music now and then. Not so much with this expansion. The sounds have just been kinda just a step above generic so far. Not bad at all, just not that interesting. Mind you I've only just finished the Stepe.
The music has been a bit hit and miss for this expansion, to be honest. A lot of the music in Gyr Abania (outside of the Fringes) was generally forgettable but a lot of the music in Doma was pretty much bang on.
Unfortunately, Revolutions didn't really sit with me in the same way Answers or Dragonsong did but it was still a great song!
The highlights for me (in no real order):
- The Fringes (daytime)
- Kugane (daytime)
- Doma Castle
- The dungeon boss theme
- The Sirensong Sea (very cool spoopy remix of the Limsa theme!)
- The Lochs
- The Ruby Sea (daytime)
- Lakshmi's Theme
- Phase 2 of the final boss
You're good at the game? You're an elitist.
You're using a parser to better yourself? Elitist.
You're making suggestions on how someone can improve themselves? E l i t i s t.
You wipe a farm party constantly but you're having fun playing your way. Nah you're fine dude.
This community astounds me at times.
I do prefer SB's overworld battle music over HW's. The battle theme for HW just didn't sound "right" for fighting, it was more like ominous piano chase music and it sounded out of place anywhere other than Coerthas.
While primal themes always come down to personal preference, this sums up how I feel about the 2 new ones. Lakshmi's sitar/indian music is okay, but the vocals are what annoy me. I just remember running the story mode fight and getting tired of the noticeably louder and drawn-out "I-I-I-I" vowels during the chorus.I enjoy all of them Stormblood songs so far except for the two primal themes.
Lahkshmi is, in my opinion, dreadfully horribly annoying and it grates on my nerves.
Susano is, in my opinion, just pretty mediocre, the beating drums and such don't really excite me. It's just pretty meh.
