Who said anything about counting on it? The point is to not prevent it. If a healer isn't going to DPS anyway, then whatever, but when I heal, I get very annoyed if the tank is taking unnecessary damage and not letting me DPS. So, to recap: if you stand in "the bad" you're going to annoy DPS healers and not annoy other healers. If you avoid the bad, you won't annoy any healers. Therefore, don't stand in the bad. Period.

Being a tank doesn't make you an exception to the rule of "don't stand in shit". I would have kicked you as well, as you're only making the healer's job harder (and risking a wipe), by doing so.

I dont count on it. However, more time not having to heal the tank means more time for healer dps, healer utility, healer shotcalling in raid. All kinds of good stuff. All things I consider a bonus if your tank can avoid predictable damage. Or are you suggesting tanks should eat every AOE they can get their hands on? - Cuz its the healers main role to deal with that.

While I wouldn't necessarily kick you since I don't have proper context, I can stay healing tanks that make little to no attempt to dodge very visual aoes just irks me. I have to waste MP and time tossing out extra heals for avoidable damage. Believe me, I can tell when the tank or DPS make an effort but just miss timed their movement. Mistakes happen. No worries. It's the ones who won't dodge at all I'm tempted to let die. >.>

To those saying that healers should also be DPSing. Stop. Most of our damage was taken away, and the way the MP cost on our heals was increased preserving all the mana we can for those spicy tank busters and spike healing roomwides we cant afford to do much else. DPS need to DPS harder.

Excuse you. Do not presume to speak for "all healers." I heal and you are objectively wrong. Only Scholar suffered a straight damage nerf. White Mage and Astro can deal surprisingly high damage, especially coupled with Thin Air in White Mage's case. You have more than enough mana to DPS and heal, provided you know how to heal efficiently. As for the DPS, if you have a Dragoon and Samurai using their aoe rotation. What else do you want them to do exactly? Please. Explain how they're going to magically hit harder if they're already doing what they should? This myth healer DPS exists only to carry bad DPS needs to die. The idea is equal contribution from everyone. If you have to heal constantly due to bad players, by all means. Just don't stand still when you get a good lot and watch them do all the work.

I hate when tanks just stand in aoes instead of getting out. If I were the healer in that case, yes, I would consider you yet another awful mentor.

My main role isn't to heal a stupid tank that won't dodge very noticeable aoes. I'll say this flat, whenever I get anyone; tank, DPS or even another healer who refuses to dodge mechanics, I will stop healing you. Obviously mistakes happen, but I'm not going to continuously waste my mana because you can't be bothered to move.

For clarity's sake, I am not referring to the OP here whatsoever. This is all generalized.

    Dear non-dps healer,

as a tank main I will stop trying my best to avoid taking damage when I see that you're sitting around, fiddeling your thumbs. If you dont want to try and make an effort to dps and actually play your class to its best potential - dont expect me to utilise all of my skills, including cooldowns, stunning group-wide AoEs or moving out of "the bad". If you're only there to heal and you're making that clear to me, I'll make sure you get to heal.

Please note: I'm only asking you to try - if you're new to the dungeon or to healing itself and not comfortable yet, no problem! If you're actually struggeling, I'll do my very best to help you! If I see you're low on mana, I'll wait for it to refill or do some smaller pulls. But if you're just standing around, dancing, basically afk'ing and probably watching netflix, I'll assume you're bored because theres not enough healing you can do...
Believe me - if I'm tanking, I'll make sure you're casting through out the whole dungeon - its up to you wether thats non-stop healing-spells or dps.

As a healer, my pet peeve is when a tank "stands in the bad on purpose."

    Don't do that.

    Just don't.

I'm sure they didn't just kick you for standing in the bad....I am curious how the conversation went when the healer asked you dodge some things. As a mentor, you should know better
