Just want to say... in the Hall of the Novice, where the game tries to actively teach players the most basic skills necessary to perform well in a party, dungeon, trial, or raid (assuming the players themselves didn't pick up on these skills prior), EVERY CLASS, and yes, that means tanks too, has their FIRST lesson on avoiding telegraphed attacks. I understand that you may not always catch the telegraph in time -there can be a lot to keep an eye on. I understand if you misjudge your timing. But actively refusing to attempt to dodge telegraphed attacks makes you a major liability, regardless of your class, to the completion of the dungeon. By and large, there's a damn good reason said attacks are telegraphed -massive damage, debuffs that can't be cured, instant-kills... it's just not a smart idea to willingly take the hit. Think I'm being harsh? Try taking on a Stroper at equal level, without avoiding its Bad Breath. Try taking a Palace Bee's Final Sting, without healing to full first.

Since you come up with this here, im sure no one ever said anything bad about you for not evading aoe before that, but let me tell you something from healer to tank. Most people will just swallow it, because its not worth the hassle, but most healers i know, are pissed of by this kind of behaviour by tanks, even if they dont tell you.

I hope you take the well deserved criticism by this group to heart because its not ok, just because you feel like it is.

I used caps because OP did in their rant. And I wasn't "doling out righteous fury about the sacred tenets of tanking" just listing the basic, yeah_duh aspects of that role. Have most HP, keep HP between bad guys and friends, don't stand in fire. That is as basic as the "know your job" description of tanking gets, and isn't sacred, just common sense.

As a healer who switched to tanking for Stormblood, I've seen both sides of this, but I'll comment from a healer's perspective.

I can't speak as to your being kicked. You may have felt the healer could handle it, but maybe the healer felt differently?

Yes, you're a tank, you can take more and bigger hits. But that doesn't mean you HAVE to. Many cases, you can move out, and back in when it's safe and the boss won't move. But if you have to move, so be it. Like others said, the DPS should know how to adjust. Yes, there are some things you can't avoid, or times when you have to take a hit. That's okay, that's what cooldowns are for.

In short, throw your healers a bone and dodge when you can. It helps us to help you.
