    I haven't touched SCH yet but with SMN I definitely feel it, the nerf is real and the down time where you're not doing anything at all while you're waiting for aether hurts a lot. I feel like that part wasn't really thought out, the best we can do is keep our dots up, cast ruin/ruin 3 and twiddle our thumbs waiting.

    This person explains better the main problems with 4.0 summoner, and it's not the ability nerfs, it's how extremely punishing this job became and how much damage you lose because SE decided to force aethertrail and aetherflow to use the same slots https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comme...t_really_hard/

    Was gonna go in more depth about it, but I'm relatively new to the forums and had a character limit. Original post was about 5,000 characters.

    Did the math with it. Tri Disaster and contagion went from around 1440 potency with everything... to about 880 potency...
    Or how removing Spur takes enkindle from 490 potency to 350.

    Smn just losing massive amounts of potencies at every turn, and Im just watching every other class outdoors me and drooling. Saw a samurai screenshot do just shy of 50k in a single hit. Im lucky if Ahk morn does 18k

    Smn just feels overshadowed by everything

    Don't mean to make you feel any worse but my brd hit a 25k a few hours ago... I'll repeat myself, a BARD hit 25k. Aren't smn's suppose to be able to hit harder then ranged dps?

    ... Looks like the New Summoner Best in Slot doesn't have a summoner soul crystal...

    I'll be looking into an actual good class now...

    SMN has been my main since it was introduced so naturally I played through it in Stormblood. So far I'm highly disappointed and can't see the forest for the trees with it. The two most crippling things are the loss of sustain and the overall lack of abilities prior to 70. Without sustain I'm finding it difficult to solo and certain fights are impossible to keep the pet alive in. I'm rather upset that this required ability has been instead implemented as a potion we have to purchase and carry on our person. There's no other battle class that has this burden so it feels unfair. If they wanted to avoid re-implementing the button itself, why not give the egi a trait which increases HP healed when the master uses physic on it?
    I don't mind the damage nerf, I think it was probably due to us. Before I could easily out damage the majority of my peers without even trying too hard. My main disdain at the moment is that the new summoner has no battle flow. I find I have an excessive amount of downtime prior to level 70 where in I'm doing nothing but a repetitive mash of a single button. I've run into many times where I just don't have any abilities available off cool-down and have nothing to actively contribute. This has made content under 70 (the vast majority of the game) a bit dull.
    At 70, the job just becomes a chaotic mess. I feel I have to stare at and flip through my cross bar a lot to get the most out of my 13 seconds of bahamut I spent the last few fights building up to. In the meanwhile things are happening about me that I'm having a hard time dividing my attention between. I thought all these changes were made to avoid this issue from Heavenward but it seems to only have introduced or exasperated it. I wouldn't say I'm angry about it, more so confused and a bit worn on it already. Currently looking for a new job to play

    I am not SMN at all but I do have a gripe with this job... Bahamut...
    We did some Susano EX yesterday and when Bahamut pops, it really makes it harder to see stuff... it's just... there and too big.
    When we need to be relatively stacked and mechanics are coming he is really a problem...
    He is not staying too long but when he's there we really need to switch camera angle and such to see properly... my poor lala...
    I am scared to go in DF24 with multiple SMN... gonna be a giant mess.

    He is a pretty good sized Egi isn't he? I kinda like his size though, especially in PvP he looks so intimidating!

    Are you damn kidding? A FF summoner isnt supposed to even have heal... Nor does this improve his dd role in any way. If the summoner should be able to heal then through a pet (e.g. carbuncle > "healing ruby") and nothing else.
