Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]

[11:15]Udutai: Mayhap they will return to their mothers in time. Mayhap they will not. Mayhap you can help?
3 times in one text xD
Most likely I would not remark it as much with words that are more common. But I think it is always good to switch it up a little bit. Every few lines a perhaps, maybe or mayhap. The way it is now you have mayhap in 9 of 10 lines in the main story.
It's was fine for me until the Domans started talking like that. Really? You couldn't think of anything to differentiate?
I'm pretty sure that's being done deliberately, and not out of laziness or lack of vocabulary. They didn't begin three sentences in a row with the same word by accident, or because they simply couldn't think of any alternatives. It's a linguistic technique to link the three possibilities through choice of words. It's almost like "mayhap" is serving as a bullet point, or to present each in a multiple-choice "A, B, or C" fashion.
Nevertheless...
The ARR dialogue really liked to use overuse a few words/phrases:Those are just some of the ones I remember the most. Don't even get me started on the "pirate talk" a lot of the characters in Limsa loved to use.
- Mayhap
- Must Needs
- Selfsame
- Pray return
The dialogue at least seemed to get more varied from Heavensward onwards, but then comes the overuse of the nodding. I still remember one of those cutscenes where one character nods and then the camera slowly pans to everyone else in the room nodding back and then the character who originally nodded nods again!
