Please another tank and healer pleaseeeeeeeeeeee
That's usually because very few RPGs go as far in-depth on the sci-fi level, opting for the same, old, safe fantasy genre. It's also a tricky thing to balance thematically between how much tech it uses, how much magic it uses and how are both of those interact.I will say this my Dream Job for any RPG is a Technology Mage Job
I always found it interesting what may happen if you combine Technology and Magic into one Class/Job. Sadly very few RPGs will bother creating a Technology Mage job.
However, with Yoshi-P saying he wants to introduce new Jobs that are unique to FF14 I hope greatly that he may introduce a Magitek Mage Job either a Tank or DPS.
Fortunately FFXIV does place in a reasonable excuse to implement the element of a tech-themed caster into the game lore, leaving many questions regarding the use of Magitek due to the inability to use magic and how some Garleans have figured out how to use basic spells. It would be a cool concept to do, but it'd require a lot more to flesh out.
5.0, "Please look forward to it!"
I would love to see all the special jobs from FFX-2
Like Songstress, Gun Mage, Lady Luck, Trainer, Berserker and Mascot! =D
Final Fantasy Tactics, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and Final Fantasy Tactics A-2 are three entirely different games. They are "tactics" simply for sharing the basic nature of tactical, turn-based combat system. They also shared the common themes of Ivalice, but in all cases, it was different Ivalice from each other. Or more like, "an alternate Ivalice". Then again, there are more Final Fantasy games that are in Ivalice, so it's not surprising.
Using any Tactics game is good for FFXIV however, as they are a wellspring of jobs and ideas.
I'd like to see a healer Dancer, and that's about it. I would be fine with any other job (really, a new tank is needed). Though I wouldn't really care much about the details, I'd expect dancer to have over-time effects based on stances chosen, with some short-term buffs and debuffs to add situational ability, with more limited instant action effects (but still do have some).
As for mages not seemingly "tanky", so Blue Mage not fitting that...in Tactics Advance at least, Blue Mage survivability was comparable to classes like Paladin or Animist, which are rather tanky indeed. Mages have a lot of things that can make them "tanky". Magical armors, barriers etc. The fact that it's not really frequent in Final Fantasy series is not much of a reason to dismiss Blue Mage, especially since the single most powerful defensive spell always was Blue Mage only...Mighty Guard. Well, "blue mage only" until Final Fantasy XIV...so the limit break needs to change its name. There's really little reason to not consider Blue Mage a tank that depends on recasting defensive spells on himself, that would have added enmity to them and such. For example Mighty Guard could be a 1min buff that decreases damage by flat amount like 40% or greatly increases defense to put it to par with other tanks, as well as increasing enmity akin to Shield Oath. Then add a 10sec buff that increases HP by 20% or so and works like Flash besides. With more such smaller and larger "buffs", a mage tank is very much reasonable.
I always assumed all the Garlean Soldiers we fight that can use basic Magic are by blood non-Garleans. As we learned in 4.0 the number of non-Garleans in the Garlean Army holds high amount due to conscription and willingly joining the Garlean Army to obtain Citizenship after 20 years of service since the only way to obtain garlean citizenship for non-Garleans is through military service from what we know so far.
Still I always call the Tech Mage Job my dream job because it is mostly a Dream in most RPG anyways due to the fantasy theme the setting is most RPGs. It has always interested me how a Tech Mage may go in Final Fantasy series since they have Megitek. Normally Machinist would focus on the Magitek skills for FF series but it never really take things into utilizing Magitek in a more mage type form. SE has the material, being Magitek, for a long time to create a Tech Mage Job and I hope FF14 may introduce it since Yoshi-P is considering introducing Jobs that are unique to FF14. It would also be a nice Garlean Theme Job as well considering Garlean Empire's constant research into advancing Magitek and with there being Garleans defecting into areas outside of Garlemald, such as Cid, the Ironwork engineers, and Lucia, they already have a lore reason for such Job to appear outside of Garlemald at anytime.

They should make a job that wears exosuits something like the game Warframe. Except here they are warframes based off of elements or physics. They have a magical shapeshifting weapon that changes depending on what frame is used. Say the frame below wields flame whips, while another frame that deals in bleeds might have a hat like Kung Lao or laced in elements that cuts enemies. Their magic would be gravity or light something spiritual woo woo-ish or based around space anomalies like black holes, etc.I will say this my Dream Job for any RPG is a Technology Mage Job

The exosuits could even be built around emulating the primals in terms of aesthetics or powers, research into emulating the power of primals. But I don't know if digging into that area is wise or not.

This is spoilery, but wouldn't tech mage sort of fall into what the deal was with the Resonant experiments?
Tech Mage would be a Mage Job that uses Technology to manipulate and use Magic.
The Resonant experiment is the process of creating.....
Artificial Echo users
Tech mages follow a different type of rules when it involves manipulation of Magic. Instaed of using beliefs such as voids, nature, and etc the Tech mage would see Magic through Coding and Data like a Computer.
This often created two types of Tech Mages in Fantasy games despite being very few of them either being a Person that use Technology to manipulate Mana so they can cast Mage like abilities with a certain tech flavor appearance on their spells or a Person that use the Technology to access Coding and Data of Mana to manipulate Dimensional Reality which gives them to ability to manipulate reality to cast magical abilities.
Few examples of a Tech Mage would be Dimension Controller from Kritita, Add and Eve from Elsword, and Zachariah from technomancer

I feel that another Tank and Healer are a given at this point, however i truly feel it will be a case of too little too late. The choice to make SAM a DPS took much of the incentive they could have used to pull people into Tanking. I do not feel anything will come close to to it's popularity/ pull people away from DPS jobs. At this point they will need a Dual gunblade wielding Sephiroth Tank job (SOLDIER?) just to help cut DF que times by any margin.
