Ranger pure glass cannon dps.
The job almost every 1.0 player wanted archer to be.
Ranger pure glass cannon dps.
The job almost every 1.0 player wanted archer to be.
A few examples of FFXIV breaking FFjob tradition;
The blatant disregard of the elemental wheel, splitting it between White and Black Mages, verses giving Black all the elements and giving White Mage holy based damage skills like Dia to supplement their pure healing and buffing focus.
SMN's DoT based combat supplemented by a mini version of a primal verses highly powered and expensive summons for intense burst damage. Although the addition of Bahamut-Egi looks like they are trying to give that feeling back but within the confines pf the job.
AST is a weird amalgamation of White Mage, Scholar, Gambler, and Time Mage.
Dark Knight in it's entirety plays nothing like Dark Knights in any other FF from the decision to make it a tank role. It's a self-sacrificing damage dealer in other games.
Would like to see Beast Master. Give it a Whip for a Weapon, and incorporate Morpher into it and let Beast Masters transform into animals, the animal dependent on the weapon.
So basically instead of Beast Master you want Druid but want to avoid the Druid name and instead use the name of what is traditionally a pet class.
I didn't think Final Fantasy ever had Druid. To my knowledge its only shape-shifting class was Morpher.
Considering SE has stated they never again want to make another pet class, this seems like the next best thing for Beastmaster to me.
My experience with Morph is the Morph materia in FF7 which allowed you to turn mobs into items.
It wasn't really a full "transform", but worked more like a stance where transformation only occurred whenever the Morpher used an ability from that stance.
This I think is a good thing for a couple reasons, but the most important one being that it allows for the creation of new ideas and new concepts that would otherwise be trashed because of those who want their one favorite Final Fantasy game to be every Final Fantasy game.

To be fair, White Mage in a few FF games and spinoffs does have access to Wind (which originated in WHM), Water and Earth spells while Fire, Ice and Lightning are pretty much signature elements to Black Magic.
