Geomancer has enough history in Final Fantasy to be considered a classic job.

Altogether with how it's being teased and treated now, Geomancer reminds me a lot of how Arcanist was treated back in 1.0
Point being, don't get any hopes up. Geomancer didn't appear in XI until the very last pair of new jobs after (arguably) many people already moved on/ jumped ship. You can hope for the best, but prepare for the worst and in this case Geomancer not being added as a playable job by the next expansion or beyond is a very real possibility. Don't forget other "classic" jobs such as Blue mage, Dancer, Chemist and even Beastmaster are in demand and by 5.0 some people are going to be disappointed (again). To add to that I remember Yoshi saying he wants to add a new job next expansion that is unique to XIV, which would take away a spot for people hoping for a "classic" job.

I was thinking that something like a "Transformation Tank" would be cool. Wherein certain "stances" are certain transformations. IE Big shielded type for Tank stance, damage stance something more attack focused, etc. Sure it wouldn't be much different in concept from other tanks, but would work within the framework of the game.

This also could be an idea for a BLU tank where it doesn't take monster abilities, but instead transforms and uses them. Maybe slightly different bars per transformation as well. Although I'm not sure on feasibility of something being implemented, just thought it would be interesting.

I've thought about this too, except there'd be dealing with the people yelling "BUT MUH GLAMZ!!" and griping about not being able to see their fancy outfits. That was why whenever I made a tank that had transformation effects, they were either temporary (like how they are now in PotD) or have "visage" ghostly effects such as claws, tail, etc. that would be translucent parts while still displaying a transformation.

As for the Blue Mage bit, the closest I'd think would be semi-temporary transformations just to do the spell.

Ah, yes. You are very correct there.. I am still dissapointed that Geomancer came so late into XI's life. I'm hoping it comes sooner rather than later, but you're right... I shouldn't hold my breath on it anytime soon.. There are other contenders for the spot as well with Blue Mage, Dancer, and Chemist as you state.

In regards to a job unique to FFXIV. What else could they add?

I mean, looking at RPGs, classes, etc. They really hit the nail on the head with all the classic Final Fantasy Jobs. Psion, or someone with psychic or telekinetic powers could be unique and interesting to Final Fantasy, as I don't think that's been done before..

But aside from Blue Mage, Dancer, Chemist, Beastmaster, Geomancer, and maybe Ranger, Runefencer/Mystic Knight and Necromancer.. I don't know what else they could add that would be original.

I know one of the games had a Psychic job, but I forget which one (wanna say FFV though).

A psychic job would probably be the best possibility for a Garlean caster given how non-caster-like it is.

Looked it up. It was in X-2 and a dresssphere job and airborne brigade, but not seen much anywhere else. It would be cool for a Garlean job, but it wouldn't be considered unique to XIV.

Kudos to them if they can come up with something.. It's cool they came up with a primal unique tk XIV with Rivana, but I think a Job would be a lot harder.. Curious to see what they come up with

How many of you believe as I do, that Lyse is actually a DNC not a MNK? Her fighting style is more dance-like with the likes of jigs and a one-handed dagger gauntlet thing. If you say but she used to used MNK weapons and fight like a MNK in the past, then I say to you...

She was impersonating her sister until recently.

In a very indirect way, they kinda did....

In the cutscene prior to Final Steps of Faith, you see Nidhogg telekinetically throw a stone column at Hraesvelgr. This could actually explain all the massive structures built up around Dravania as well.

Well Tancred was a Rogue, but had the gladiator arms and fighting style until Rogue was about to be implemented. In the same sense that 1.0 had weird Arcanist arms, and Ryukuho in the AST questline is a Geomancer and has conjurer fighting styles.
I don't think it's out of the box to think how people might seem a specific class based on current game mechanics, but are only assigned such as similar placeholders until the correct class/job is actually implemented in game
