    To be honest I think the whole overheat mechanic is just too much to manage when in heavy mechanic type fights. What I'd suggest would be;

    - Make overheat no longer a thing. Stop the gauge at 100

    - Inchease Cooldown DPS

    This way you want to keep from generating more then 100 heat but don't want to go below 50 either as it would be a dps loss. It still offers a window from the good MCH to separate themselves from the average ones. But removes the crippling punishment of the whole overheat dilemma.

    And before you ask, then what would be the point of Barrel Stab if you made this change. After you do your Wildfire rotation you have about 2 - 3 GCDs before it pops. This is a good place to spam cooldown using heated shots is only higher DPS if you get procs. But if CD is buffed too, then it would be the optimal thing to stick in those WF slots at the end. Then you would use BS to jump back to 50

    ya I did that during heavensward and it took the better part a year plus to finally be reasonably good or more really the the last 6 months of the HW, I like the new Mch Casting was fucking terrible when it happen more times then not ya ammo quick reload but its still rng when everything is down and it really takes down your dps every time you have to do a mechanic. I mean the final 4 months of HW i was shitting most dps classes cause I frankly didn't play anything else I am really good at mch and the current dmg on mch is not worth the effort at all, I'm currently getting SAM up to 70 and probably RDM(if i want to be more supportive in savages) cause I'm not gonna sit thru a whole expac again waiting for buffs.

    I was a mch all way through HW but as soon as I saw the reveal I just knew the class would get shafted dps wise and bard looked much better. I decided to be mnk for Sb and even though there has been complaints about it, I don't regret switching.

    Every class needs a punishment mechanic. The overheat system is fine. Whats not fine is how long it takes to recover after overheating. Removing that mechanic would make the class simple and boring.

    I find it REALLY at ends with the design teams supposed intentions that MCH can quite easily and accidentally Overheat, killing their DPS for at least the 10 seconds they are cooling their barrel, (long than that by far if they can't use Stabilizer or Flamethrower) or for at least 30 seconds if they make the poor decision to use Overdrive.

    It's really at ends because Square said they wanted to CLOSE the gap between the skill floor and ceiling for classes, (IE. the best players shouldn't be so much better than the 'entry level' players at simply playing their class.) And then they add an actual DPS penalty that lasts several GCDs just for hitting the wrong button.

    I agree that you need to be able to botch your rotation with some consequences, but the end result of that should be that, if a botched rotation is going to dunk your DPS that hard, then you should be doing insane DPS while the rotation is on point.

    MCH currently does rock bottom DPS even while the rotation is on point.

    I'd rather the heat gauge just cool faster and not overheat, to the point where you'd need to keep your rotation solid with some procs in order to keep it over 50. It would be better than a balancing act like MCH has now, IMO.

    Or just turning Overheat into something you then activate with a longer CD on Gauss Barrel afterward. It'd render Cooldown & Quick Reload's functions useless unless there was a penalty for 100% heat, but it'd be better than what we have right now.

    I agree that the overheat punishment is a little bit too much. They should just make the gauge reset back to zero after it finish the overheat status no cooldown whatsoever

    Other than building heat is flamethrower actually useful?It would be nice if its potency increased while overheated.
