I'd prefer to just have anima armor and weapons exclusively.

I'd like to put on armor and weapons that you can upgrade, but don't see why we need other equipment...

The way I see it is that there's no reason for other gear/weapons. The only downside I see to this idea is that if you don't require new armor to drop in dungeons there won't be new costumes.

However I don't see why the glamour system can't be overhauled and your actual equipment was just upgraded and you never have to equip new gear, but they still give us visual options (Maybe, more things like halos, wings, accessories).

I'm not trying to sound ignorant or anything but this is really just how I see it. I feel like glamours should be more complicated and gear should be upgraded instead of replaced.

Answer me this, what's the difference between:

Having an i350 anima and upgrading it to i360 changing its look.

Having an i350 tomestone weapon and buying a new i360 weapon with a different look.

There's no difference, for all intents and purposes upgrading the anima is changing one item for another, buying a new weapon is changing one item for another.

I just think that switching gear for new pieces of gear endlessly is kind of archaic. If we had a more complicated appearance system and just upgraded weapons/gear it would streamline the gameplay to a much more enjoyable point.

But you didn't really answer the question: how is that different? With the anima system, our "upgrades" are just switching one piece of gear for another.

Yeah sorry I didn't really understand the question. I'm just saying that there should be a default appearance for each character's gear and after that you can only modify your appearance with glamours. To accommodate that though they should add some kind of costume shop or clothing drops from dungeons, raids, etc.

The only difference between the anima system and normal gear is the number of steps involved and the amount of grinding.

In short having every piece be anima would result in massive korean grindfest problems, for what is effectively the same system as just running a dungeon for a piece of loot.

The anima system was conceived as an alternative for people who were not good enough to do savage raids, back when the major raid option was only the coils of bahamut savage which required a lot of coordination and practice to stand a chance of completing. Which meant only hardcore raiders would have decent ilvl weapons.

That changed when the story raids came out. Raids became a lot more accessible for casual players, and thus the anima system only remained for the people who were hardcore in their belief of never doing raids.

Ultimately the Anima system is, you gather these mats and hand them and the piece of gear to an NPC who hands you back a different piece of gear. Like running a dungeon and getting a drop from the boss chest, or handing tomestones to a NPC who gives you a piece of gear in return.

The only way to not have the "archaic" switching of gear for new pieces is to remove gear entirely as a factor.

No anima weapon. All "gear" is level 1 cosmetics you can put in a slot. Otherwise all player power comes from point investment obtained from leveling or grinding points to invest in stats.

Which also by the way defeats the points of running dungeons and raids besides story and xp for more points. Only the most efficient XP per hour activities would be run, leading to mass burnout.

Because then everyone would be the same. There would be no uniqueness among players.
