Seen a few posts/threads about the notoriously slow patcher that has people leaving their PC afk for hours on end due to the slow download speed.

I live in Australia which has less than reputable internet speed and normally have an issue with the patcher, despite being closer to Japan than Most countries.

However for the first time ever (including FFXI), patch downloaded within 20 minutes at peek hour time, much to my pleasant suprise.

I thought I would make this thread to counter the negative posts about the patcher.

For those of you who are stuck, perhaps a manual download would be more effective.

Sometimes its fast, sometimes its decent, sometimes its agonizingly slow. Nothing new about it. OVerall less stellar than it should be.

SE have these forums for feedback. I'm simply giving them something positive/encouraging to read.

3 aussie friend's also had a fast download for this patch, so perhaps localization makes a difference and perhaps its not such a lottery after all.

i reinstalled the whole game + patches in one hour, THAT was crazy (downloaded patches with the client)

100x faster, SE client doest not work for me here in EU. Dont know why.

I've won the lottery before. 1.19 (yes that large one) I had downloaded with SE client in just under 10 minutes right after the patch became available. Today, I lost, big time. Lesson: don't bet the house on SE patch client. Take the wins when you get them, but realize that like the casino, it will probably piss you off more than it will make you happy.

Something tells me that feedback in which SE's software works properly for something like only 1 out of 10 people on a good day isn't very encouraging. It's a pretty bad situation however you look at it.

OFC, but the 9/10 people who are having problems WILL complain. Its upto the 1/10 to which the system is working for to also give their feedback.

Typically a patch for me with ports forwarded takes 30 mins, through ffxiv patcher, or through utorrent. I think that's pretty fast, could be faster but I'm not complaining.
