My first son will be born in a month and I want to enjoy this last month of less responsibility in life and enjoy storm blood. I also work 12 hours a day. The queue times are making it impossible for me to do this so I'm considering transferring.

What servers are well populated yet not too populated that I will have the same congestion issues? Like I'm basically looking for the next tier down. So if gilga and balmung are level 3 servers I wouldn't anybody a level 2. Has anyone else transferred from Gilga and found a new home that is working out for them? Are the free transfers only to DEAD servers?

Faerie is populated, but not overpopulated, and you can still catch the Gilga and Balmung parties in PF.

I play on Hyperion and it seems plenty populated to me. Idk what the actual number of players is but it's usually locked to new characters.

It's a nice realm, I enjoy it here.

The census below was done by Lucky Bancho back in March. It lists active playerbases on each server. Might help you decide. My own recommendation would be Cactuar. Been hearing a lot of good things about that server from friends over there. Sarg also has a fairly strong raid scene if that's your thing.

Cactuar! \o/ We're still busy enough to see queues during busy times, but even on launch weekend peak times, I didn't see it break 2K.

Although I'm almost temped to say stay away, because we've been getting lots of Balmung and Gilgamesh people who are just trashing our Market Board economy since they're used to selling their stuff for shite on their own server. XD

lol in all seriousness though, I have characters on Cactuar, Gilgamesh, Siren and Goblin, and Cactuar has hands down been the friendliest overall. There's the occasional troll, but there's a lot of server pride for being one of the most social/helpful. When people were trying to get their Coils clears for the story patch (before cross-PF was a thing), I saw raiders putting up PFs for weeks offering to help less hardcore players clear it (and no, they were not asking for gil in exchange like I've heard of other places).

Although Cactuar has been edging toward restricted status more and more, so I dunno how much longer until we're considered large pop. Goblin is fairly nice as well if you wanted something smaller. It's pretty active considering it's population, and with it's preferred-world status it should be gaining more soon.

Edit: keep in mind, yes there is a raiding community, but it's considerably smaller than what you'll see on Gilgamesh lol. Same with RP, it's there, but not exceedingly prominent. We were known as the Crafting/Gathering server once-upon-a-time.
