I believe the Tree would win since they do more damage per hit than ifrit. However, ifrit uses fire and possibly would deal more damage to the tree. Anyone have thoughts on this?

FFXIV Pokemon eh? hmmm...
On the other hand, still haven't checked out the new NMs! Will do tomorrow.
It's outrageous. The matter that mobs that are suddenly EVERYWHERE in the forest in groups of 4-6, each one being stronger than Ifrit and linking to Spriggans, it's ridiculous. Not to mention it completely undermines the fear you're supposed to feel from fighting primals when you can find a harder mob in their back yard.
I'm not usually one to complain about a new patch, or anything in it, but this is the one thing of the patch I don't agree with. I understand Guardian's being strong, but even just one would be enough, not 6 on each side. Jeebus. >.>

Insulting people in the counter argument isn't going to change their minds. It will make them stick harder to their opinion regardless of whether or not it's right, and think less of your opinion simply because you insulted them. In essence, if you want to try and change someone's mind, come up with a well thought-out response and don't be a dick.
It's fun. It is definately uniting our server Lindblum to down the NM's together. We take turns and help one another.
Funny thing is, it's not hard to avoid the gaze of the spriggans. And you have to time the engage on the NM just right so nothing links. Overall it's fun.
I know it's easy to avoid them, as long as you're on the side of the "hallway", but the problem is the Spiteful spriggan NM who roams along that corridor, and pretty much only stops within just enough distance for those trees to rough us up half-way through killing him. It's fun. As I said, even just 1 tree would be tough during this, and they added an abundance of them that can potentially wipe your entire party if they aren't doing things right. Yes, a hazard of the game, I understand, but I still believe it undermines the strength of the Primals just a tad.

I think this is pretty cheap and expect a lot of complaint over this in the next few days.
What makes things worse is that there are normal mobs in amongst the NM's like wolves and birds which just cause so much of a headache, it becomes a case of raising one member just for another to die.
I like the idea but its just not done very well.
Edit:- If we are required to do this everytime we win the fight I doubt many people will bother.
Richard, I know what weaponskill you used five minutes ago.
.... And what you did last summer.
If we have to go thru that again everytime we win, I'm only doing the fight once. This is absurd. The linking to aggroing mobs is the worst. If they removed those dang roaming spriggans it might not be as bad. I feel sorry for people that get on the ball later.... it's going to be a pain for them to get the NMs done if the majority of people already have it done. lol
well to avoid dying to the trees, just walk, the trees aggro to running. That also means that this I think is funny about Square-enix, they give us some really cool new combo attack but then they tells us that we cannot use them on the new content (the tress will kill you if you run and you auto switch to running when your weapon is pulled out) we have to just use them on old content or special situations of the new content.
massive amounts of team work, linshells grouping up and taking down the NMs, really is a great experience, every once in a while you will get a second NM walking across the other NMs flight path, this causes more excitement and deaths, still loved the quest.
I tried the moogle fight, Nightmare before Christmas music. Also we lost and we did not have to kill the NMs again, you just have to wait 5 minutes? to retry.
