I found it pretty common actually in PUGs that the more a tank pulls, the less equipped they are to handle it. They don't use CDs and expect the healer to simply keep them alive, and sacrifice all of their potential DPS as a result. Granted, there are always windows that pop up for a healer to DPS, even more so now that stat swapping is gone, but do not rule out the existence of squishy tanks. They are everywhere.
Really? Especially on WHM you should have ZERO reason not to. You are GUARANTEED 7 seconds of dps uptime EVERY pull. Holy. Aoe stun. Best mitigation in the game. 0 damage taken for 4 seconds. How do I know you have time to dps? Because my husband leveled up whm for this expac. Even with back to back pulls in leveling content, where gear is HQ whites, between holy, tetra, cd reduced benediction, cure II cuz delete cure at this point, DB and allot of swearing he NEVER let a tank die.

People need to step it up or pull the Yoshi-P healer DPS card.

Yes, really. SC+Holy and assize are great tools to have in this situation, but they are not always available. If the tank is taking high and/or unpredictable damage, I will not feel safe dpsing. And that is all the reason I need.

I've been doing a lot of dungeons since early access (helping my guildies with their Sams and Reds) and I've seen that either mob damage was increased, tank defense was reduced or suddenly every tank sucks.

The first one is unlikely since, well, who would bother buffing the damage of Dusk/Stone Vigil mobs?, and the third is obviously wrong. My personal theory is that tanks got their defence nerfed to balance it with Tenacity and to increase the difficulty a little bit. But I digress.

My point was that I've seen tanks go from 90% to 15% in a single GCD. So yes, the gear and personal skill of a tank matters and those things will determine if I'll be able to DPS or if I'll have to spam Cure II on them like there's no tomorrow.

Obviously they are the exception to the rule (in my experience they're really common but I might just be unlucky), but they're still there and we've got to adapt our play style to them.

In the grand scheme of things dungeons may be irrelevant and once people starts overgearing them we'll think they're no more difficult than the level 10 guildhests, but the truth is that there will always be tanks who will need some baby sitting, so there may still be occasions when the healer will have no choice but heal nearly 100% of the time.
