Updater is total crap.

ive had problems w/ slow downloads on patch days before but this is a first. My upload is in the 100s while my download is nill/bits a sec so for 3 hours ive gotten no where on downloading. I shouldnt have to download on utorrent. They need to address this and give us a legit response instead of utterly ignoring this persistent problem/complaint.

at least yours is actually downloading... i got the patch off megaupload and still it stops at 99.9% for 5 min before an error message pops up... the same error message ive been seeing for nearly 4 hours now

This happens every single patch. The best method is still to dl it using utorrent or some other way. It works in about 30 minutes and never fails for me.

Get the torrent file that ends up in your My Docs/My Games/Final Fantasy XIV folder and load that baby up in uTorrent. The FFXIV updater/downloader sucks. Don't bother.

I have to say, this is the first time on patch day that the game patcher was lightning fast for me. It was done in 10-15 minutes. No complaints.

Second part is bullshit. First part is relevant.

To everyone else: I've tested this out with a DMZ and the FFXIV updater is just pure crap. It has a hard-coded limit to the number of connections (and therefore a limit on the number of people you can potentially pull bandwith from) and it seems to actually have a harder time FINDING them, even through a DMZ. Using uTorrent or any other BitTorrent client worth half its salt is actually far more efficient than letting the updater download it itself.

Right after the update i launch the update then i did go do something else and when i come back it was done !!!
