yes some more slender samurai armor would be nice
genji is a bit too clunky for me

It's such a shame that the only set of non-glam Samurai armor that Samurai can wear is this asymmetrical overdesigned nightmare. At the very least the armor seen as a housing item is symmetrical and simple in design, if only Samurai had access to it.

It never ceases to amaze me how people in the gaming community will ask for something from the developer and start their request by slapping them in the face.
Thank you good peopleI will earn centurio seals for it. I had 2 I really like - Strife from subscription and this one (currently using it):

I know YoshiP wanted SAM in this game to be more Ronin style, with cloth armor; but in the end, would it really be so bad to actually give us more authentic SAM armor?
Kind of, actually. You have to consider that apart from artifact armor, you share your gear with monk, and wearing heavy armor isn't in-line with that job. It's the downside to shared gear is that you don't get as much unique identity in appearance on the gear you can equip. If they were to add in the armor requested, you're likely to either get it as level 1 items anyone can wear (which I'm not opposed to, I'm always in favor of more options) or as a future relic armor set.
Japanese monks wore Samurai armor too. Shared armor is no excuse, because there's no problem with both classes getting to share a decent looking set of Samurai armor.Kind of, actually. I'm curious... why do you reckon this design is an... as you put it... "asymmetrical overdesigned nightmare"?
I personally like this gear and its Kugane signature look. Incidentally, this is one of my favourite Samurai gear sets in the game because in my opinion, it is a high fantasy take on the traditional Final Fantasy Genji armour.
For one, it's asymmetrical, which knocks off a lot of points off the aesthetic. For some reason, the left leg has a long armored skirt, but the right legs has a short skirt for no practical reason. I guess they were going for that Tidus hipster pants look?I'm curious... why do you reckon this design is an... as you put it... "asymmetrical overdesigned nightmare"?

Anyway, the shoulder guards also asymmetric and don't match, along with what appears to be a non-functional belt buckle on the left shoulder. Why does the right shoulder have a thorn? Why does the left shoulder have overlapping plates, but the right shoulder does not?
The reason I say it's overdesigned is well...look at it. There's hardly a smooth surface or even a square foot where the armor is just one solid color. This "armor" is just so covered with attachments, bumps and swirls that it's really difficult for the eye to even focus on a single spot, which is why I call it a nightmare. Samurai armor was suppose to be good at deflect blows, but that's impossible with this set because there's just so much material for a weapon to catch onto. Clearly the designer spent time designing it, but it appears nobody took the project away from him when it was needed so that designer just kept adding more and more until it was overdesigned. If I asked you to redraw it from memory, or just to describe it in person, it would be near impossible.
Just compare to the caster armor, which is symmetrical, and has clear focal points and clean color lines on it. You can clearly identify the cuirass and easily identify each segment of the armor, cuirass, skirt, shoulder pads and wrist pads. If it weren't for the dress, this armor would be perfect for the Samurai class. I imagine most players would have a far easier time redrawing this armor from memory.
