Split Balmung into 2 separate servers

Please split Balmung & maybe Gilgamesh into 2 separate servers. But keep them locked for any new characters and transfers until things stabilize out.

Back in the 1.0 days, Besaid and Fabul merged together to become what we know now as Balmung. This may have seem like a good idea back then, but it's way to overcrowding today.

This might help with the problems that we are having today. SE can give people the option of which server they wish to remain on or transfer to, so you can stay with FC and/or your friends, etc.

This is just my thought that might alleviate some of the server issues.

Nah. They just need to squash Balmung and Greg's population back down to manageable #'s.

Now that I see them adding new worlds, I think the most likely thing to happen is it'll just stay locked. The population will slowly go down, and once our worlds finally have a more even distribution, they'll add a new world(s), which may be the push Balmung and Gilgamesh need.

Just wait it out. All the casual that want to try out SB are back and want to play it. In a week or two everything will be back to normal.

Sure it sucks having queues of 4k (lol, i ain't waiting that..) and you want to play, but what can you do? That's life.

I'm wondering... how would you want to decided who gets to stay on which server after the split? Who goes to BalmungA and who to BalmungB? Randomly? You get to choose one of your liking?
If you get to pick, you most likely pick the server your friends are going to, right? Like... a whole group decides to which server they're going to move... you see what I'm getting at here? If they split the server and everyone gets distrubuted randomly, theres going to be an outcry about splitting friends, FC, communties... if you get to choose (and most likely decide together with your group) - how is that going to be so different than having your group discuss moving together, now that we're having free transfer? Just because a split would actually force you to make that choice?
Splitting the server would essiantially be creating a new server - and why should they bother when there are quite a few servers on your datacenter that you can fill before they make a new one?

How do you do the split though? It would be better if they simply set a NA server as a promotional server like omega but it be for balmung players

It is utterly ridiculous to have locked down these servers. People have paid enough to get on them over the past four years.

Squeenix needs to show unlimited transfers off Gilgamesh for at least a full year, if not two.

Anyone transferring to either server, myself included, were well aware how populated they were. SE is doing what is best for all servers by locking them.... though admittedly late.

A split isn't going to work since how exactly would you even facilitate one? A better solution, if they ever were to go this route, is a brand new server where only Balmung players could transfer into for a couple weeks. The reason being is this allows anyone transferring to keep their houses-- the biggest motivating factor for many players, especially roleplayers. You then designate it an official RP server, along with another one or two. That will entice roleplayers off Balmung. After all, there's a reason people keep bringing up the RP label during live letters.

But they aren't going to do that since it costs money. Which is fine, however I am curious just how many people will actually leave Balmung.
