So... bad crafters for autocrafting items to apparently avoid the AFK limitation? Sorry boss, I autocraft/mass produce items when I am not in the middle of grinding fates. The functionality is there for me to do so, why shouldn't I use it?

I also go AFK when I need to, you know, do real world things while I am crafting, which crafting is a thing I do to make money. Not going to mindlessly watch my crafts go up..

Also, when they start handing out bans (and I doubt they will) pretty sure they won't be telling you when they do.

It seems kind of weird to potentially ban people for employing a function that is in the game by design.

If I am going to make a stack of 99 something-or-anothers, I don't generally want to sit there and watch the synthesis. Moreover, wouldn't it be difficult to glean people's ill intent? People could be completely unaware of the fact that hanging on a synth will keep them in-game indefinitely.

Kick people out of the game for being idle for a long time? Yeah, absolutely. No one in their right mind is going to sit on a really expensive synth long enough to get booted from the game. Ban though? That seems a little much.

Hard to see reason when one sits on a throne of self-privilege. =/

Now if you want to actually ban people, how about obvious botters and gil sellers? Two people in my server are known botters. Multiple reports and nothing. Probably because they have multiple accounts they pay at least $100.00 per month for. Why ban someone when you're funding the game? Why not let a little harmless Botany farming bottage happen? (end sarcasm here)

tl;dr - ban things worth banning.

I do think they could make their AFK detection software a bit smarter, so it'd be harder to circumvent and the auto AFK logout could work more reliably. It's just a question of whether the problem is going to exist long enough for the extra development to be worth the effort. (And even then, some people would come up with sophisticated enough bot programs to still avoid it anyway.)

Honestly? No. I doubt it. It's launch week - the hype will calm down and the limitations will be removed in no time.

Or they just tie together their controller with a rubber band and run in a circle in a private room or something. It's kind of laughable how easy it is to trick the afk kicker.

By making the detection software smarter, I didn't just mean including when someone is crafting, etc., but also watching for cases where the only interaction is as repetitive as a held down button or analog stick will create. Either no interaction or a constant repeating interaction for over half an hour should trigger the AFK logout. (And if they're in the middle of a craft or in the middle of an NPC quest interaction, exit from it as though it hadn't started.)

Well, if people exploiting the game's program to avoid getting auto kicked due to inactivity were to actually get kicked for inactivity, the queues would be better.
