Yes, I have actually made it past Raubahn and continued my journey in Stormblood! I'm doing so with around 3 million gil as "pocket money" on me and I actually dont really know how much gil my retainers are holding, I just know thats already over 100 million for one of them. Now, I dont want to brag about that, but it always feels really strange reaching points in the story when money becomes an issue and my character is just standing there, pockets filled with so much gold she should barely able to walk.

Sometimes, it makes sense to me - some bribes might be to high. Or people are to proud to take my money, stuff like that.
But yesterday I did a quest where someone lacked the money to pay for some veggies and I got send out to collect roots to pay for those - so obviously, my help was welcome. And veggies cant cost such a fortune (and yes, even on that foreign continent they would have taken gil, my questgiver was wondering wether or not she had enough gil on her! So not an explantion either)!
I'm a roleplayer but I do care a bit about my immersion and it felt very weird not being able to say "Yeah, I got this" and pay for the damn veggies. Now, ofc the game cant force you to give away your hard earned gil in order to complete such a quest - but what if you'd get the option?
In situations like this the game could easly give you the choice:
1) Pay the vendor a certain amount of gil (could be a rather "large" sum, for all that I care)
or
2) Go and do the fetch/kill quest

In this particular situation I had to kill two mobs outside of the village, nothing would have been lost if I'd just paid the vendor and didnt had to do that. It would have added to immersion and a fealing of "reality" though while having the nice side effect of destroying gil (one reason for a "larger" sum - pay 50k gil or do the quest, your choice!)

Of course, not every quest has to be solveable with gil in the end, but it would be a nice little addition to get this choice from time to time!
What do you think? Would you pay ingame money to "skip" some quests? Would you even want to be able to?
