Thread: Sailing in 2.0

So ever since FFXI, I've always wanted to be able to take my LS on some big pirate ship, and spend like a week at sea. I don't know what we would do, but perhaps we could choose to be pirates, or what not, and PVP others, or camp leviathan, or fish for rare fish. Maybe add docks around Eorza that you can dock up at, but also add a place on the ship to store supplies and stuff.

Wouldn't it be great to just sail off into the sunset with all your best friends in the game, and come back with a bunch of rare loot to sell for gil. Or Pirate others?

It would be almost like Eve online where corps can go into a wormhole together.

I mean, we have land combat and stuff, but it wouldn't be difficult to make the oceans navigable.

Also, you could make ships cost a LOT. Say you can buy them for 50 million Gil per ship. That would definitely make PVP more worthwhile. Go around trying to steal ships from eachother, or just trying to get the rare loot. Maybe allow us to set up our ship for specialty in fishing, pvp, going fast, etc. AND it would be a great gil sink. Combat inflation

I can also see adding crafting facilities on there. Something more to do while your waiting for your ship to get to a certain spot.


Scenario:

Kisses LS has 120 members and 2 ships. 60 members on each ship. Also, Altima LS has 60 members with their own ship. We all decided to team up. This way we can protect eachother if pirates come. We all jump on our ships with our flags up to show your LS. Who ever payed for the ship can designate who has permissions to steer. We get into the deep water, and some people craft, some people fish for the rare fish, some try to stay on their guard for Leviathon or w.e huge monster NM might pop up.

Then we see pirates off in the distance. Immediately our 3 ships sail a little closer together, and we set full speed to try and get away. They start gaining on us, and we realize we won't be able to get away. We all decided to put our sails down so they won't rip, and we prepair for battle. 5 members go below deck, and man the cannons, while the rest put on their battle gear, and get ready. The pirates come up, and we shoot cannons at eachother. The pirates know they are out cannoned, and speed up along side the Altima ship.

They throw their ladders and nets across and board the ship. There are 120 pirates, and 60 altima, and we know we must go help them before they lose the ship. We pull along side Altima's ship, and send half our members over to help them while the other half stay to guard the ship. All the pirates die, and we send a couple over to claim the new pirate ship.

The 3 of us escort our new ship to the docks, and put it up for auction for 20 million gil. The loot is then divided as loot between the members!

Note: the pirates would not be NPCs, but another LS.

I remember Tanaka saying about joint crafting efforts to make things like Boats, cakes, etc.


But who knows now.

If they ever implement swimming and underwater levels, I can definitely see the usefulness of boats. High grade fishing spots could be nice. I don't know how battling would occur. Are the mobs floating above the water? Do they just appear on deck? Or jump out of the water?

Maybe have the cute little seal things jump up on the deck of the boat on their bellies, or the jellyfish come out of the water and fly up on the boat.. Or maybe you fish up mobs too

That's what happened in EQ anyway.

I do believe I remember that island. Or maybe just getting the crap kicked out of me by Giants. Did this island, by chance, have a volcano on it?

God i hope i don't get seasick while out there figtsing other private ships that would be embrassing lol
