Dont forget the sheer amount of ppl who probably took this week off of work just to get raid ready. You would be surprised how many people do this, I know a few in real life... I just cant see myself doing that though.

I've no sympathy for people who took time off work for an MMO launch.
To be honest, I don't pay 12 euro's to sit in a queue for over 2 hours since Friday every day and with the final result I don't get to play at all. The only time you can log in is early morning hours, but then, I'm at work. It's ridiculous...
Boo hoo
You have the option to transfer to a low pop server or you know stick it out for a week until the servers calm down, it's an MMO expansion launch what exactly did you expect?
Nearly every online games got a login queue when their servers are overloaded like this.
This was going to happen as expected. One of the highest most playered Class/Job in any MMO has always been the Sword DPS Job. Sword DPS Jobs are a hit or miss with players based on how they can adjust to the Job/class gameplay but no matter what it will be the most popular Job/class played by the community for majority of MMOs ad RPGs.
If anything the introduction of Sword DPS Jobs may have made 4.0 the most populated launch in FF14 higher than 2.0 and 3.0 thus the server may have been dealing with far more players than SE expected after they compared 2.0 and 3.0 population on their release.

I don't think people mind reasonable queue times. I would argue that queue times that can be measured in multiple hours are unreasonable and at a point where the company needs to create a real solution. The expectation for players to just "deal with it", even temporarily (because it isn't really temporary if it keeps happening every expansion, event, etc), is also unreasonable when you're charging a subscription fee for the service.
