I don't mind queue times being huge if i'm just logging it, i'll happily wait.
I mind getting kicked off the game and then getting placed on a 3K long queue entirely because of problems, on SQUARE's side, with the instances.

I'm confused. You claim to be software dev, but then complain of THE busiest time for a popular mmo. Your unsub will run out right after thing settle down and game becomes stable again, which shows some ignorance and bad foresight. If you could stop unsub right now at it's worst I'd get it. But you're literally ending it once things are calming down.
Being a software developer gives me insight as to how certain problems can be solved, including the load issue. It is very obvious to me that SE, and many other publishers (note, this is not the development team's fault), decide to not tackle the problem despite solutions existing because they want to save money. And the worst part is that players, like yourself, accept taking it up the *** simply because it's a "norm". I used to "defend" MMO publishers like you did, ignorance really is bliss.I'm confused. Dont forget the sheer amount of ppl who probably took this week off of work just to get raid ready. You would be surprised how many people do this, I know a few in real life... I just cant see myself doing that though.

I've no sympathy for people who took time off work for an MMO launch.
This was going to happen as expected. One of the highest most playered Class/Job in any MMO has always been the Sword DPS Job. Sword DPS Jobs are a hit or miss with players based on how they can adjust to the Job/class gameplay but no matter what it will be the most popular Job/class played by the community for majority of MMOs ad RPGs.
If anything the introduction of Sword DPS Jobs may have made 4.0 the most populated launch in FF14 higher than 2.0 and 3.0 thus the server may have been dealing with far more players than SE expected after they compared 2.0 and 3.0 population on their release.

To be honest, I don't pay 12 euro's to sit in a queue for over 2 hours since Friday every day and with the final result I don't get to play at all. The only time you can log in is early morning hours, but then, I'm at work. It's ridiculous...
Boo hoo
You have the option to transfer to a low pop server or you know stick it out for a week until the servers calm down, it's an MMO expansion launch what exactly did you expect?
