Hey dev team,
As someone who constantly accumulates crap that may or may not be worth something, i usually just throw it all on my retainers to figure out later if it's worth selling or not. however, this is rather time consuming, even just randomly depositing things as quick as possible. if i want any kind of organization, like certain categories of materials on one retainer (such as alchemy ingredients, cooking stuff, etc) and other material types on another (ores, gems, hides, etc) its even slower because i have to pay attention to what im depositing where.
So could we get a quick deposit item for our retainers? perhaps two buttons, one that deposits whatever you have in your inventory that will fit in the retainers inventory; and the other button that does something similar, but only deposits items that the retainer has already in their own.
for instance, take retainer with some animal hides, marmot meat, and copper ores in his inventory. the first button will deposit EVERYTHING you have in your own inventory, that will fit into theirs. this also works if they have no more open inventory slots, but you have (for instance) marmot meat, and they have a partial stack of marmot meat already. then the marmot meat in your inventory moves to his even though theirs no more open slots, until either its all deposited, or the stack is full and no more can fit.
The second button in this example would simply take whatever animal hides, marmot meat, and copper ores in your inventory and put it in the retainers, because they happen to have some of those items already. the rest of your inventory would be left untouched.
I feel like these buttons would go a long way toward making inventory woes less... woesome.
As an additional, third option, it might be nice to have a way to make a "blacklist" of certain items. for instance, putting animal hides in your blacklist would either automatically throw all of said item away when you obtain them, or maybe sell it for npc gil price. some items there's just too darn many of on a market, and they never sell for higher than their npc price...so what's the point of selling them? by having a blacklist, the availability of said item will fall to the point such items might actually become viable to sell on the market. This could potentially help a lot of newer players out, as those worthless animal hides might actually let them get a bit of starter gil from their leveling.
Just a few suggestions that hopefully would make people's lives a lot better.
