For me at least it's not splitting friendships up, but friends. It'd be nice if we could, I don't know, all level together and progress together? What I have fun doing in this game is playing with friends. I mean we still can queue together it just doesn't feel great having everyone scattered at different levels and parts of the MSQ.

The only thing this entire thread is right on is that SE severely under planned back up plans and failed to anticipate certain issues on servers. All these excessive error 90ks, the DF breaking once or twice a day and locking people out for the entire duration of the instance(90 mins for dungeons) from even logging in.

I get that early access is a final stage of beta testing to a point, but with the issues we've run into it's more like beta trying to be released as a full game based on responses to the issues.

I fell asleep for 6 hours while my friends continued playing and now I'm woefully behind. Has that ruined my friendships too?

Christ, you guys are completely missing the point. It's not ruining friendships, it's ruining their ability to play together, which is something I, too, am experiencing. Finally got RDM to 60 after all the PotD crashes, just in time for everyone in my FC to shout "RAUBAHN'S FIXED!" and now here I am sitting in our voice channel listening to them do Susano'o while I'm stuck constantly 90king at fucking Pipin unable to even log in on an alt because they can't get their shit together. Another guy in my FC ragequit trying to level SAM because the servers went down on his final run before 60, and then encountered the same problem I'm having where he can't log in at all. I've barely hit 61 in 3 full days of early access and I've only seen two new areas so far, and by the time early access ends I'll be lucky to have even finished the SECOND instanced solo fight.

I'm sorry but people are acting as if this is the first MMOto have launch issues on expansion ore otherwise let me find you an article from nearly 15 years ago (Yes I've been playing MMO's that long:

First day woes for Star Wars Galaxies
    By Matthew Humphries 06.30.2003 :: 9:44AM EDT @mthwgeek

thursday saw the release of sony's long awaited massive multiplayer online role-playing game (mmorpg) star wars galaxies (swg). the release was not without problems, however, and sony's servers were at the heart of the trouble.

many gamers rushed home after buying swg to find that registration just wasn't working. the registration servers were fixed by mid-day on thursday, but players who subsequently managed to complete the sign-up process were then presented with game servers that did not work. the problem was put down to “database issues,” and many people were unable to login until friday morning.

As you can see all MMO's have faults its a foreseeable thing and crying about it won't help anything the Dev's will be the first to know via tickets which they will then work on, SE has some of the most passionate Developers I have ever met and they just want everyone to enjoy the game, but at the end of the day hiccups happen get over it and move on there's no need for all this drama.

I was very tired of the stuff not working but now it is fixed. Why are you still playing if you are so disgusted?

Sounds an awful lot like this since I couldn't progress for a while then either. Or what about when WoW released Warlords and it took FOREVER to build a garrison with server crashes galore? Took better than a day to progress then too.
That's not what I remember at all. Server stability was great from my memory. I even played from launch and got server first priest in like 12 hours maybe?

Anyway on topic I logged in Friday morning for a few hours and hit the wall and stopped. Since then I'll play a little and try again and then just get off. It's really not the end of the world.

People seriously need to get over themselves. The amount of whining entitled kids on these forums these last couple days.. good grief.

Salt levels have reached an all time high.

These issues were certainly to be expected. While I will admit it seems HW had a much smoother launch one of the driving factors for SB issues was the sheer amount of folks that bought CE for EA and the amount of folks that had been on furlough and decided to come back for SAM and RDM. SE's only fault is not preparing for such a huge surge of players old, new and returning alike. That being said I think they tried to mitigate it as best as possible without having to shut down all the servers for a complete maintenance.

This is, of course, a completely ridiculous thing to say. Of COURSE they care about the players! Players is where all the money comes from! They care very, very deeply about the players and will try their best to be known as a company that cares about its players and works to try to please them. Negative press is something they want to avoid. As a business, the bottom line is always about money, but in the business that they are in customer relations are a VERY important part of that bottom line.

Unfortunately, they are only human, and humans make mistakes. I'm sure they anticipated congestion early on - there's ALWAYS congestion at the start of an expansion! - but I think they underestimated just how bad it would be on this early MSQ instance. They acknowledged that it was an issue, and managed to correct the problem after two days of hard work.

Expansions are a very high-stress period of time for MMOs, and there are bound to be problems. This is something that anyone who signs up for early access - for an MMO or ANY game, really - needs to be aware of. I think it's pretty admirable that SE was able to do as much as they did to correct things. They may have not gotten things fixed immediately, but it's completely unreasonable to expect that. Hasty fixes, even if possible, often cause more problems than they solve!
